Baseball is a game of adjustments. Pitchers adjusted to Castro last season now he has to adjust to them. If he doesn't make those adjustments it won't make a damn bit of difference how strong he got this off season.

I don't get the Soriano stuff. I mean he partied and all, but he was always ready to play. He improved as an outfielder over the years and it wasn't his fault the Cubs overpaid for him. There were positives Castro could have taken from him, he just didn't.

I think they fucked him up trying to make him take pitches. His first pitch swinging was like 31,33,32, and then 27% last year

He needs to get hooked up with Sosa's peps. Dude was obviously juiced and never got caught.

He was one of the most productive players the Cubs had on the team for years, and he hustled far more than several other prominent Cubs players during that tenure.

He was offered money, and he took it. He gave effort. He wasn't a good fielder (besides his arm), and everyone knew that before he was signed. He was a brand new left fielder at that point. You got what you expected. Same with the breaking ball troubles. Even his best years on the Yankees had him susceptible to the low and away breaking ball.

I'm not going to hate the guy because an idiot GM offered him too much money based on his age and the fact you knew one of his valued skills would soon be diminishing because of it.

He failed miserably in the playoffs but his overall body of work as a Cub was pretty decent . I was all for them dumping him but what was the hurry last season? They had him this long,might as well let him finish his contract. Junior Lake could have played RF.

Would've been much better as 2 or 3 run homers in the middle of the order. I'm glad he took his craft so seriously he waited until he was 33/34 to learn to play outfield. It's what off-seasons are for if he really cared that much.

guess it depends on what your definition of star is. A guy flirting with .300 ( in a good year) with ok pop and minus defense doesn't really qualify to me. Hell even if he approaches Mark Grace like numbers ( which I doubt he will over his career ) he still isn't a star as Grace was always considered a very good player but a notch below a star player . He's still young so we will see .
