Cubby-Occurence:He will probably pop a newly developed muscle in the Spring and get replaced by Augie Ojeda.

As RPB said, you just don't hit like he did and then forget it or lose it.

The fact that he was willing to do a strength program in the offseason is a sign of maturity as well.

Yes, let's hope he has the same results as Joakim Noah

I know it's a different sport, but both guys got by on natural talent for so long and then finally gave in and started working.

I think Noah is a good comparison. Hopefully it has the same results.

Or it means he stopped juicing to now he will try it the clean way.

Castro's career is already way better than this. He has had 2 very good seasons with 1 solid season and then 1 down season. He has a career BA of .283.

The Caruso comparison is just bad.

Yeah, way off. Young SS gets called up and looks like a gem. Next season (in Castro's case,2 seasons) he gets real ordinary real fast.

yeah, totally different Jimmy. Caruso's career was derailed by substance abuse and the party life.

Sorry,I see the the similarities. Maybe a 3rd party should decide. Let's ask Frank.

Baseball is a game of adjustments. Pitchers adjusted to Castro last season now he has to adjust to them. If he doesn't make those adjustments it won't make a damn bit of difference how strong he got this off season.

After review, the ruling from RFDC has been confirmed.

Caruso was never the hyped prospect Castro was. He had 1 good year, and faded to bolivian. Its happened hundreds of times since MLB started.

OK,I accept that. Hopefully Castro rebounds or maybe the Cubs can trade him for Keppinger.

I don't get the Soriano stuff. I mean he partied and all, but he was always ready to play. He improved as an outfielder over the years and it wasn't his fault the Cubs overpaid for him. There were positives Castro could have taken from him, he just didn't.

It is 'cool' to rip on Soriano.

Yeah, We had no reason to not like the 100MIL dollar player who couldn't field or hit a slider. :

I disagree. I mean, Id love him to play heads up in the field, but the most important thing is that he starts hitting again.

I see a bounceback year at the plate. You just dont hit like he did and then forget how.

Unless the pitchers figured him out.

Usually that doesn't take two full years

I think they fucked him up trying to make him take pitches. His first pitch swinging was like 31,33,32, and then 27% last year

He was one of the most productive players the Cubs had on the team for years, and he hustled far more than several other prominent Cubs players during that tenure.

He was offered money, and he took it. He gave effort. He wasn't a good fielder (besides his arm), and everyone knew that before he was signed. He was a brand new left fielder at that point. You got what you expected. Same with the breaking ball troubles. Even his best years on the Yankees had him susceptible to the low and away breaking ball.

I'm not going to hate the guy because an idiot GM offered him too much money based on his age and the fact you knew one of his valued skills would soon be diminishing because of it.

Take your ire out on Hendry.

He failed miserably in the playoffs but his overall body of work as a Cub was pretty decent . I was all for them dumping him but what was the hurry last season? They had him this long, might as well let him finish his contract. Junior Lake could have played RF.

Fuck that diva Soriano. The asshole pouted and whined to be in the leadoff spot when he was much better suited to be in the middle of the order. Gee, thanks, a record 12 leadoff homers! Great! Would've been much better as 2 or 3 run homers in the middle of the order. I'm glad he took his craft so seriously he waited until he was 33/34 to learn to play outfield. It's what off-seasons are for if he really cared that much.

I'll hate him for you. Fuck that guy.

guess it depends on what your definition of star is. A guy flirting with .300 ( in a good year) with ok pop and minus defense doesn't really qualify to me. Hell even if he approaches Mark Grace like numbers ( which I doubt he will over his career ) he still isn't a star as Grace was always considered a very good player but a notch below a star player . He's still young so we will see .
