I'm glad to see that many Cubs fans are finally thinking rationally about the Cubs and their ballpark. 20 years ago you couldn't have found 5 fans who wanted the Cubs to build a new park in the 'burbs. Now it seems like most fans would approve. Time marches on and there is progress to be made.

Secondly, if you listen to the Score or WMVP, the number of callers who are on board with the Cubs leaving Wrigley far outnumbers the stay in Wrigley crowd. Surely you sense this shift, no? That's a joke. I wouldn't be inconvenienced in the slightest. I never need to see the shitty Cubs ever again. And I'm no different than thousands of other people who buy tickets every season without the slightest interest in Cubs baseball. Like the three Japanese tourists I just drove by taking pictures of Wrigley in a fucking snowstorm. Yeah, they're really going to go out to Schaumburg to take pictures at Wrigley Field Jr. Give me a break.

You suburbanites seem to value "convenience" over all else. That means you spend a lot of time on your couches in front of your televisions. And you actually begin to believe Cooper's Hawk is the equal to Charlie Trotter and Alinea because, after all, there is no parking on Armitage.

There is only one guy in this forum who actually buys many tickets to Cub games who is advocating them moving and that is City of Fools.

For a shift to have existed you would have had to tell me a majority of fans have staunchly been opposed to them leaving, for no real reason.

The issue now is that if they cant get a few simple things done, then yes, they need to leave. They have a solid reason to leave. This is different from just leaving. So tell me that it was just fans opposed to leaving 20 years ago for no reason isnt correct at all.

You are aware it is one of the top tourist attractions in the state of Illinois.

And if the gift shop was open, as they plan to have it open everyday, it would have netted them I am guessing at least a few hundred dollars.

Forbes: 2013 Astros most profitable MLB team ever

The Astros averaged less than 20,000 in attendance for home games. They also had a much cheaper average ticket than the Cubs did.

And they are located in downtown Houston so I'm not sure why. Interesting case study. But still....most profitable.

The TV deals and advertising is where the real money is. Even if I give you a reduced attendance if the Cubs were in the suburbs (which I will not, because it wouldn't be the case), the Cubs would more than make up that money through the additional advertising revenue, and parking revenue, etc etc..

I don't believe they are leaving either. But part of negotiating is using your leverage to your advantage & Ricketts de-valued his leverage when he said early on that "The Cubs aren't leaving". It was just plain stupid. The whole point of negotiating is get the most favorable outcome for your side. He needs the city to think that the Cubs MAY just leave.
