so my in laws were going to do some juicing detox as a couple. One of them cheated (really didn't even start) with food on the first day and backed out. They brought the one unused series of juices over as my wife had some interest. She said she couldn't do it. I made fun of her and her sister and now I've been roped into this thing. Three days of some kind of series of six juices per day. I figure I have this thing no problem ending with a sweet valentine's day reward for the accomplishment.

Three days is perfect. Middle of the week when we are serving up leftovers for dinner and flavorless sandwiches for lunch.

You'd be surprised at how quickly you can learn to not ever be hungry. I need to get back to it.

But, I was forced into this realization that led to some serious weight loss.

3 days isnt enough to make a difference. at that point, your body is still 'detoxing'. not meaning that its getting rid of bad stuff, but its just getting used to the new food. and juice is very different, because of the enzymes and natural bacteria. it takes a couple weeks for your body to fully adjust, and after that is when you really start feeling it (feeling amazing, that is)

i dont really understand these 'juice fasts' though. why does everyone have to go to extremes when dieting? that is the worst thing you can do for your digestive system. instead, try adding the juice drinks to your normal eating habits for a week, then consciously turn down food a little each day until you replaced most of what you used to eat with juice. by then, youll find that you naturally like raw foods, and if you still have cravings for the old stuff just limit that to one day a week. having one 'freebie' day a week where you eat what you want can really help your motivation because it takes away that fear of losing those high moments when you eat things that you really like.

better for digestion, yes, but juicing is wonderful for nutrient absorption. i dont question at all the effectiveness of juicing, but i do question the fasting diets where people dont eat any solid food for weeks.
