I don't really like flowers, most of my friends don't either.

Went with proflower so the bouquet would be delivered to the GF's work. It was her request. Next year I will bring the flowers myself and pick them out at the Jewel flower shop. I can save the $15 bucks shipping and get more flowers.

They seem to go over well every time I've bought them, but hey, if you want to pay more for your flowers so whoever is receiving them won't judge you over it...

If you want to mix it up, you don't have to order flowers. I got my wife a giant bear from flowers.com this year. She loved it.

Yeah, I haven't done flowers for my g/f up to this point so they were a real surprise for her...probably gonna hold off on them for a few special occasions so it stays that way.

Bought flowers and chocolate for the wife and had them sent to her work on Valentine's day and she promptly left them at work during her 3 day weekend. Im expecting they'll be dead a day after she gets back to work.

I ordered from them a couple of times and had the same issue. IIRC they were using Fedex at the time. Now I'll just go to a local florist instead of rolling the dice.

I took Darkside as a guy that had a strong pimp hand. Giving your wife gifts is a sign that that hand is going limp.

The flowers you bought were specifically grown for Valentines day most likely in Argentina or Chile, genetically altered to handle the rigors of shipping. ProFlowers is counting on this day, along with Mother's Day, to do the bulk of their business for people making that one time order of flowers. They lure you in by saying "Its not too late for her to get them" and so instead of taking the time to make the trip to the florist (and spend the money) you point & click and 2 minutes later you're done with it. FedEX & UPS contract to perform the delivery but they don't control the weather, so if your flowers end up sitting in a cargo container in freezing temperatures because of weather delays, its beyond their control (not that your local florist can't suffer delivery impediments).

Oh yeah, they're going to die anyway.

My experiences with all the mail order companies have been bad. If you call them and complain, they will likely send replacements as a good faith effort.

I do prefer to have a local florist because you know that it's going to look good and hell, you are keeping a local business in business.
