On USA Today's list of the most influential people of the last 25 years Bill Gates was #1. To which Greeney commented how the internet has changed everyone's life so much. :roll:

Not to ruin your joke, but Al Gore probably is one of the top 10 most influential people in the success of the internet.

As for Bill Gates being #1, he had very little to do with the internet and in fact Microsoft did not fully embrace the internet until about 10 years ago. They did not think that long term it was going to be as essential to computing as it became. They have quickly caught up but it's interesting that they actually heavily underestimated the internet.

That is certainly true, but it makes Greenberg's comment look even dumber since Bill Gates had a very small impact on the internet up until about 5 years ago.
