Yes, my assumption says that I can use common sense to make logical assumptions.

Furthermore, the fact that 1 or 2 % of something exists, doesnt mean the other 98 or 99 are not the majority. Its simple math.

And no, Americans from all walks of life dont propose illegal dealings thru broken english and then run away when the person doesnt agree.

So here we are. An obviously (to any objective person) illegal immigrant hits and runs, I say that criminals should be deported and Im the villan.

Awesome.

Commonsense says someone who doesn't speak proper English is here illegally? I hope I never have that type of sense.

No, the english added to the no police and fleeing the scene

Its a normal assumption any rational person would make

No I'm just shinning a light on the unfortunate beliefs of some here.
Why is it a racial stereotype to think someone who speaks English poorly may not be an American citizen?

In this scenario, I think that is more likely than here having a warrant out for her arrest.

I think it's a fair assumption that she was illegal. But her immigration status is incidental. It was the hit and run that is the issue.

That was part of the whole picture. She caused an accident, admitted she didn't have a license, and when "somebody" was going to be called, she fled.

Why are you choosing to focus only on the English part? I deal with electricians that have accents all the time. I don't automatically assume they are here illegally.

Because the other details undercut his whole premise.

You assumed she was primarily because of her English.

I guess it's okay to assume certain things in the scenario but assuming that she was Mexican is out of bounds.

Yes, I have read this thread, Nas. And you just threw your entire asinine point out the window with this post.

One of the reasons. One of them. If she had broken English but exchanged information like most decent Americans would do, I highly doubt RBP or anybody would be thinking she is an illegal immigrant. They would just say she is a shitty driver.

You have to look at the entire picture here. You clearly want to come out and imply that some of us are racists so you are completely ignoring the other facts of this case in order to try and do so. That says a lot more about you than it does about anybody else.

I think if you've just been involved in a violent auto accident, there's every possibility in the world your thinking is not the height of rationality; and it's possible this other driver simply wigged out and bugged out.

I'd rather not deal with the police, even if the accident is the other guy's fault. Haven't been in any accidents to find out for real tho (knock on wood).

Also, do police come out for accidents w.out injuries any more? Seems like a waste, esp if it's a "no-fault" auto insurance state.

if you do get into an accident and decide to drive off, drive to the nearest police station or call the non-emergency police number and report the accident and that you panicked and drove off. shit happens. you make it worse by making the police track you down.

No, the responsible way would have been to call police and file a report, just like most people do.

If you think broken english + No police, no license + leaving the scene of an accident doesnt suggest illegal immigrant, then you're just being purposely obtuse.

No I'm not. Americans from all walks of life do this daily. Your assumption says a lot.

So racial profiling is okay.

You have mad leaping ability.

Thats not racial profiling. Its language profiling. The person can be any color and from any country but if they dont speak english, I assume they probably werent born here.

Yeah, but if a guy has a European accent, I don't think most people leap to the conclusion that he's illegal.

Absolutely false. So now you're telling me what my thought process was to prove your misguided attempt at a point?

I work with 50 people who barely speak a word of english. I dont assume they are legal or illegal. I dont know

The fact that she chose a hit and run over getting a citation for driving without license is by far the biggest factor in my assumption (which is almost certainly correct.)

Very few natural born citizens speak broken English. That means that almost all of those who speak broken English are immigrants. That isn't a racial stereotype.

Now, when someone wants to avoid the police and commits a serious crime to do it then we can start to think that something they are doing or have done is illegal. Now, maybe this woman was a serial killer, or had outstanding warrants, but what is the most logical reasoning here? I guess it would have been better for rpb to think she was probably a murderer.

He didn't assume she was illegal because of the broken English. He assumed she was illegal because of the broken English + wanting to avoid the police at all costs.

There CLEARLY was a reason she wanted no police contact to the point where she committed a serious crime to avoid even giving them her name.

The primary reason is that she clearly had some reason to avoid the police. Something in her life was clearly at odds with the law.

I'm not sure who you're arguing with here. I never accused RPB of using a racial stereotype. You do know she was Mexican though, don't you? Maybe I'm the one who is stereotyping, but I'd feel very comfortable betting my house against $1,000 that she was Mexican.

Not even close to the same thing.

One is a fashion choice that people choose to believe means something

The other is a person's willingness to commit a felony to avoid a driving citation

.

A friend who worked over by Union Station got hit walking across the street in a cross-walk by a middle-aged white guy in an Audi. The driver was clearly in the wrong and pulled over and got out to assist the person who he just hit. The driver was very apologetic and helpful and asked if he could drive his victim to the hospital or take him home.

Despite having injured his foot/leg in the accident. my health-insurance less friend opted for the latter, thinking he could see how he felt in the morning and make a less expensive non-ER doctor's appt. Driver loads him up into his Audi, drives him to my friend's high-rise apt building, helps him into the lobby and elevator and rides the elevator all the way up to my friend's 12th floor apt. My friend at this point is really struggling to hobble, and so the guy helps him all the way into his apt, sets him down on his couch....

and then the driver sprints the fuck back to the elevators, down to the lobby, out the front doors and drives off.

Friend never got his name or any info other than he drove an Audi.

Probably illegal though . I have quite a bit of experience with both legal and illegal immigrants. The ones that go thru the proper channels to be here are a lot less likely to risk throwing away that status with stupidity like driving with no insurance license and leaving scenes of accidents

Seems I was pretty clear that her leaving the scene was CLEARLY the reason I thought she was illegal.

Nope.

You can keep repeating this obvious lie, but it doesnt make it true.

I assumed she was here illegally because it was worth leaving the scene of an accident to avoid a driving citation.

Ive posted quotes from last night. You keep choosing to ignore them.
