I already said hit and run drivers should be deported regardless of citizenship status.

And I agreed with that. I would also go further and admit that if I were hit in the same situation I might start railing on about wetbacks. But when my blood stopped boiling, I'd realize that wasn't right.

You think that's what im doing?

Since the 4th post in this therad Ive been extremely clear that anyone doing it legally is fine. Im just talking about those here illegally who commit crimes (as the woman in question did)

And somehow, this gets twisted into railing on mexicans?

I didn't say that's what you're doing, but your sudden hardline stance on immigration (and the rule of law) doesn't really fit with the philosophies you've expressed in this forum over time. I'm just saying that if that is what you are doing, I wouldn't find it surprising. And I wouldn't judge it. I would think that would be a normal reaction.

Is assuming that a person who does not speak English most likely crime would be immigration status related an evil thing?

Your grammar is making us natives look bad!

Guilty.

I dont know how to phrase that.

Should the english have a possesive apostrophe?

Any help would be appreciated

That's one for the "Ask Mac-Grammar Edition" thread.

I think it's fair to suspect that someone is an immigrant if they speak broken English. Most native born people end up with a firm grasp of the English language.

It wouldn't be fair to speculate on the immigration status unless they give you a reason to do so. Desperately wanting to avoid the cops and committing a felony to do so is a reason to speculate. I think if she's actually a murderer on the run she'll get over the fact that someone thought she may be in fear of being deported.

Listen, I don't really give a fuck. But RPB is usually pretty near the pitchfork rack when racial issues are involved here.

We dont have to but one someone leaves the scene of an accident, isnt it natural to speculate why?

I dont know what the pitchfork thing means. I think I often get lumped in with some of the thoughts of the Crew. Its understandable I suppose. But I dont agree with everything Ivan, OKC, DB and the rest said.

Jorr, fair point. I was surprised that RPB was the one that made the initial post. It is interesting how crimes committed by certain groups are given heightened importance.

I certainly don't believe that assuming her to be an undocumented immigrant in that situation makes anyone a racist.

Lately BR, you are the voice of reason. Maybe it was always that way, and your "insights" are just now seeping into my brain. Either way, I am enjoying your posts.

Its not sudden at all. I know Ive made 50k posts but you wont find me expressing any other view on immigration

Ive always thought "get legal or get out"

There hasnt been a ton of immigration talk here that Ive been a part of and certainly this recent event brought the feelings to the surface

Was I chiding? I don't think so, but if you took that from my posts, obviously I was doing something wrong. And in that case, I apologize to RPB. I don't feel like most of my posts in the thread even address his particular situation, but rather the larger issue of illegal immigration and the standard middle class view of it.

Your views in this thread are not easily explained away with jokes though. And your views on immigration are terribly uninformed and archaic.

No, I think it does have to do with the crew.

Which is why you thought I was an aspiring rapper.

Also, OKC and DB are both guys who have gone at Scorehead repeatedly. I havent. You're mistaken there.

Oh and the irony of someone who is against all forms of birth control calling me archaic is a thing of beauty.

Your views on everything are pretty archaic.

Which views on criminal illegal aliens being prosecuted would I have to explain to old man Seacrest?

We all got an explanation that was best kept to yourself. What you posted in this thread is quite clear.

Yes, I clearly stated that I think people here illegally who commit felonies should be deported.

Crystal Clear.

Ill wait for your apology on the incorrect Steve/Scorehead comment

Again, I'm not chiding you, but that seems inconsistent with a lot of your other thoughts. I mean, do you think these people don't want to be citizens? Think if your life was so shitty that you packed up a couple shirts and a few pesos to have some guy you're not sure you can trust and who you are paying a lifetime of savings to take you across a river and/or drive you without food or water in the back of a truck and then let you out in some foreign land where maybe you can work for a slave wage chasing chickens for Smithfield or something, and that's a whole lot better than where you came from. I just find such harsh judgment of people uncharacteristic coming from you.

So his previous posts about racial issues were devoid of thought or just upfront insincere?

RPB when I read your comments it made me wonder what you may say about me if you were upset. After meeting me a few times you may be surprised to hear that I'm black. I'm probably a little more sensitive than most people around here to racial issues and ethnic stereotypes. You and others may have no hate in your hearts but the views sound bad. The same logic you all use has and is used by racist to explain their views.

Frank

We as a country have invited illegal immigration across our southern borders since at least 1980. We have applied a band aid, or little to no aid , in keeping out folks from Mexico most specifically.

They have done jobs that many other Americans have no interest in doing. Shit, there are people here that have been unemployed that wouldn't take these types of jobs under any circumstances.

Now after years of tacit approval with a struggling economy of our own, we want to break up families and ship the parents of kids back to where they came.

It's morally unconscionable for our government to do this.
