How could you want your own show then go on the air and spew forth the most idiotic and inane thoughts imaginable? I think being in B+B pit of despair has worn Matt out. He's used to be an ok listen around 2006-07ish. Never great but just a generic sports show that took calls and didn't go on moral crusades or sing parody songs every hour.

Certainly some truth to this. You can't be a Bernstein-like D-Bag in the radio biz without having Bernstein-like talent. While it's fun for drinky, it's not very smart. Finfer isn't great, but at least he didn't go on the air at the Score with the sole purpose of being a jack ass like drinky has done for the last 2 years or so.

You're always auditioning. Something drinky doesn't realize.

THE GAME starts up. They're looking around. Who do we take? The Jack ass who acts a fool all the time on B&B or Finfer? Easy decision. Finfer gets it. I'm sure Mac helped Finfer land this gig as well. But if Finfer acted the way drinky did, no help from Mac would have mattered.

Christopher Hubble I can't see Mitch letting any of SCR's marquee names leave. He's got a juggernaut right now and no legit young talent to replace the old stalwarts. The "next" guy who would have been a great full time host is plying his trade in Atlanta

2 mins later, realizing what he'd said....

Christopher Hubble Allow me to amend my last post. There is talent there amongst the young guys, but I don't know if any of them are ready to handle a prime shift on a regular basis right now.

Ouch, Drinky.

Finfer is very likeable. And that's refreshing after listening to hour after hour of bernstein clones. It almost makes up for his voice, which is not exactly made for radio.

But this move isn't about Finfer at all. It's about Mac. Either Mac to The Game is already a done deal or Decastro is hoping bringing Finfer over will help him to get Mac. That's it.

Im not so sure about that, JORR.

I mean, Im sure Mac is on their minds, but I bet they'd love to take anyone from The Score (other than Drinky)

But right now, Mac is the guy they could possibly get. That immediately swings a whole lot of listeners. I'm not listening to cracking 87.7 for Larry or McKnight. If Mac is there though, so am I. And if our board is a good sample, so are a lot of people.

"Crackin' 87" would be a better positioner than "The Game."

Either way, you can sing it to the old "I-MUS-IN-THE-MORN-IIIIING" jingle rather faithfully.

Bigger question...does Mac GO?? After his second "episode"...Mitch brings him back...AGAIN....that took some balls and trust OOORRR was he "buying" a bit of...leverage perhaps with Mac if he is thinking of going? Whispers of this going down have been going on for awhile right?....I could be off obviously but jsut a thought...

Yeah that next great young talent now plying his trade in Atlanta couldn't beat out Leery for a regular shift or even be a permanent cohost. Yeah they really let one get away there . Who is this Hubble guy besides a fucking dope.

Where is this from. Why doesn't he post here anymore? Same goes for guys like Slap Shot and STU GOTZ. They seemed like guys who would enjoy the give and take.

Mac is nothing if not the receiver of beneficial timing that's for sure . Wants to take the summer off and smell the roses? No problem, contract is up and he has a fresh ratings book showing the decline in ratings while he was off. Oh SCR doesn't want to play ball and give him the flexibility he seems to want now? No worries here comes his old buddy Jimmy D with a new station , dearth of talent and WGN checkbook. Things sure look good for the Mackeyfish that's for sure.

and he will get to come back from his sabbatical about the time the Bears are ready to start, which is great for ratings

Straight from Drinky's facebook...

"MT - R.I.P.
one of the best ever - heaven just got a little more fun

#TeamLodge"

He was the guy that either owned or ran "The Lodge". He'd been sick for a while now.

This wasn't one of the creepy guys that chased the sleazees around the Lodge and bragged it about like an accomplishment.

The owner of triple threat sports

I felt comfortable using his name because its mentioned on the radio quite a bit

I just think its funny that he spoke his mind and what he believed and then amended it after considering the people at the Score who he was essentially ripping

Probably not best for business to shit on a station that doesn't mind tossing out a free name drop of his business here and there ... never mind the whole "who is he" to make such proclamations, which is also valid.

These hires are all place holders probably working under 1 year contracts if that. I could see the entire lineup being different in six months.

Probably. Doesn't mean it won't be Mac and Ben in 1 year.

I think Ben knows his current show is gonna suck. But he takes the 10k raise and waits for Mac to save him like Mac always does. That's the way he's thinking.

I don't know if foreseen is the right way to look at it. Maybe the beneficiary of a little inside info perhaps.

It's accurate to say I'm more relaxed with Finji, but do I enjoy myself more???? I don't know if I'd go that far. More than ANY co-host with whom I've shared the cockpit, Ben doesn't sweat the small stuff. He can take a punch without flinching. He can make a mistake without beating himself up over it. He knows it's only radio and nobody is going to die on the operating table if we have a bad segment or six. Note that I'm saying this about Finji when comparing him to ALL of my radio wives over the years, not just Spiegs.
