My assumption is drinky is not looking to step into a full time host role. If he had that ambition then I think he'd take his performance a bit more seriously. Also perhaps he's not the breadwinner in his family, so that tames his ambition a bit since he's content for now. Just an uneducated guess.

Good move for Finfer; he's been open about his ambitions for hosting, and now he's got that role and an opportunity to grow.
