To stay the smartest person in the room at all times:

1. Don't let in (or on the air) any experts, they may not promote the current narrative.
2. Kick out (or keep off the air) any informed opinions, they may undermine the narrative.
3. Bend Twitter to support the narrative, dismiss anything contradictory.
4. Mention that his sources are so inside and so informed that they are better than anybody's but cannot be revealed, ever.
5. Have a few emails from the ranking ALS, they know their role.
6. If the co-host can't be a proper parrot he can keep his ass home.
7. Make sure the sound engineers know to drop the caller's volume to induce shouting, he who shouts loudest wins.

You don't have to have listened long or very often, and it took less than 2 minutes of transition to be reminded of another aspect of his bullshit, chickenshit approach. He's glad that Russia lost? Wrote a column? Why not step out and declare your stance before the game is played? I'd have far more respect for his exuberant glee if he were to say up front "I want this because of that."
