I like Chuck Berry, too. He is a great performer. I'm just tired of people saying Elvis wasn't as good as this guy or that guy. Just getting there first doesn't make you better. Elvis is the King, pure and simple. Best combination of voice, charisma, showmanship.

Bono has a better voice, more charisma and is a better showman

And he's not the only one

Your backyard is on fire, because Billy Joel drove into your living room

U2 is a solid band and probably one of the most popular that is still around from the 80s. However, Bono is no Elvis. U2 is not as good as the Beatles either. U2 is overrated because no one talks about how bad that "Pop" album is. Bono is very annoying. He really comes off to me as thinking he's more important than he is. It would be nice if someone would turn off his mic at some point.

They are as good as the Beatles. Bono is better than Elvis. EVERYBODY talks about Pop being bad and Bono is the most important rock star of our era.

I dont think Pop is bad. I prefer it over several Beatles albums. But its all personal preference anyway.

Bono is pretty awesome Christian though

Relative to the rest of their own catalogue, probably Yellow Submarine.

But that includes a George Martin orchestral tune:

Several George Martin pieces, actually. But it's considered a Beatles album, technically, and it's their worst, though "It's All Too Much" is one of their better drawn-out songs.

I don't even think Bono would compare U2 to the Beatles, or himself to Elvis. This is a pretty stupid discussion.

I agree. Some of the Beatles albums are unique in that they were actually soundtracks to movies (Help, Hard Day's Night and Yellow Submarine).

What I like best about the Beatles is they didn't skimp on the material and Elvis for that matter too. According to the Wikipedia page there were 759 songs that Elvis recorded. That's astonishing. The Beatles had over 200 songs on their albums in 8 years they released 12 studio albums, 13 EPs, and 22 singles.

U2 has released 12 albums in 38 years. So the Beatles have put out just about the same amount of material in 30 less years.

I like U2 better than the Beatles and Bono better than Elvis. Hope that's cool.

Thought it was obvious I was stating personal preference.

So now we're into bean-counting? The New Radicals only made one album and I love it more than almost anything I have.

Always around no matter what and I guess good enough to have on in the background if there aren't many other options. WAY too important for the room. Still share a condo/castle with mum.

So is Pop when they decided to SHAKE THAT?

But no, that's a really stupid analogy. Their musical accomplishments and influence are undeniable. It's hard not to see "Where The Streets Have No Name" as, if you'll pardon the expression, a signpost in rock music.

I was just trying to jab RPB. Couldn't find a way to mix in weed and illegal aliens though.

Still early for me.
