The idea of the Olympics bringing the finest athletes from around the world together, to compete with one another to determine who the best overall might be, has become too much about what country wins the most medals. Who cares? Why not just enjoy the competition and the fact that the athletes get the chance to meet and compete with others from around the world and hope they do so with a degree of sportsmanship that fosters better relations between countries?

The Olympics has always been about nationalism and dominating other countries. In particular the Soviets and the East Germans used their politics to win at all costs in the Olympics.

He won gold medals in medleys. Individual ones. You have to be able to do the breast stroke well to win those.
