anybody watching this? i forgot it was on, just turned on the TV and weather delays got me to the last 5 laps. danica patrick holding out in 3rd, so is there any chance nascar remotely activated some computer chip in her car that will allow her another 5-10mph over the rest of the field so she can get a rigged daytona 500 victory in the wake of the PR hit she took when richard petty came after her?

cuz you know it was just NASCAR MAGIC(TM) when junior won the 500 after daddy died the year b4, or was it the next summer race? will we see any more with danica running 3rd with 2 to go?

i have always suspected this. ever since they went fuel injection, there is no technical reason they couldnt adjust fuel trim remotely. or at least adjust it before the race. i think its a given they do, seeing how danica hit the pole last year at daytona. even gordon said during the race "she must have a good car because she just drove right by me". whats hilarious is that even with a car 10mph faster then anyone else, she couldnt win.

Your assessment is correct though, there be some sketchyness and possible collusion with outcomes and in race events...

I think he meant went Dale JR won at the July Daytona race, the first time back since his dad died.

Even some of the drivers thought the race was fixed

I really wished that 2nd to last accident wouldn't have happened. I thought Keselowski was coming on strong,
but I like Dale Jr so it was a nice win.

I think Jr is going to have a big year.

He always drives around with a 3-ton weight of expectation on his car. Now, he doesn't. He can go for it and not care if he ends up 42nd. He just seems to have a much calmer demeanor this year and seems more excited than in years past - even in the interviews before the race.

I just feel like things are setting up very nicely for him this year.

I think that he was just so overshadowed by his teammates. Nice to see him get some recognition. I know he
had a pretty good year last year just no hardware to show for it.

He seems happy or at least at peace. He used to always seem like he was racing for everyone but himself.....didn't look like it was fun for him at all. After the race he looked like the kid that was dominating the Busch series.....minus the frosted tips.

It's almost as if they changed the points system and Chase format for this very purpose.

Weird.

I've heard a couple people but that one forth. That's the worst conspiracy theory of all time. They changed the format to reward winning races to benefit a guy that's won 1 (1) race in 5 years.

I thought they did it to ensure that no matter what Knaus does he will only have a 25 percent chance of winning the championship come Homestead.

I believe that one more. It provides almost 0 reward for being consistent for any length of time. It's the Anti-Johnson Rule.

I only hope it's as effective as my high-school girlfriend's Anti-Johnson Rule.

Has anyone ever researched who would have won all the the "chase" championships using the traditional points only system? I thought I heard Gordon would have won the first year of the chase.

If this year's system was applied to last year's races, Jr would be the champ.

I'd doubt that even the biggest Jr supporters think he had a championship caliber season last year.

I don't see the problem with that, he should be the Champion every year.

He didn't. I'm not a fan of this format from a fairness perspective but it might make things more interesting from race-to-race. I can't see how it wouldn't. That should be good.

How could that be when he didn't win a race last year?

I misspoke. If the new Chase system was used last year, he would have won.
The season long changes they made after the Chase changes (which came after the Sprint Unlimited changes and the All-Star race changes) altered that scenario.

It was definitely better than the boring 1 lap runs but they have to work on some stuff still. Teams were complaining about the inability to cool down the cars (since they are running them balls out with tape on the grill). I think they should have to run race set up to avoid this but idk how you enforce that.

I did not see it, and I like it. Will make a huge difference on the shorter the track. Making practice speeds qualifying order or lineup in case of rainout was a start. Nascar has to start making coming to the track more exciting. Knockout qualifying is sometimes more exciting than the races in Formula 1.

Cars were already doing a qualifying vs. race setups during the qualifying for the races. The "not cooling down" thing is garbage. It is like an NBA or NFL player going to the refs and saying I'm getting fouled everytime. The drivers and crew chiefs are trying to plant the seed of doubt in the officals mind to put the rules to their advantage.

They could just ban them from putting tape on the grill.
