Then again, if people like North and Mancow work with various charities I guess they wouldn't have any qualms about someone like Bernstein.

We were reminded today of the code words that show people are uncomfortable with gayness.

"Hi, I'm Dan Bernstein..." immediately comes to mind.

Maybe I'm taking this too seriously, but if I were a charity I'd be embarrassed to have Bernsie as one of the spokesmen/faces of the organization. It makes me wonder if they listen to his show. I don't know how much he brings in, but being the douchetastic troll that he is I wonder how much he unwittingly turns away.

I could not agree more! I can't but think they are disregarding the person and accepting the money and exposure with THANKS (while holding their noses and dealing with the ego). I am sure it is just something for Danny to "cleanse his soul" with. Of course the friend, family member, or whatever story of his "support" may come..but truly the man is an immature ass. Play poker for my cause...run a marathon in our name (after he made fun of marathon runners for how many years!?!?!?!?) It's your world Dan...though we sure as hell don't know the color of the sky in it.

I believe the part his wife's job played in the evolution ( what a joke) is being waaaay overplayed. She's been a wedding planner for years. Dan just goes by modern culture. Which is why guys like him and Obama suddenly became champions of gay rights this year

Has Illinois had lots of gay weddings for years?

Take a look at your parents (or anyone's parents) wedding photo's from the 60's-80's & you tell me. Ruffled tuxedo shirts with weird color combo's seem to be popular back then.

Patrick Burke is the leader of the NHL's anti-homophobia campaign (You Can Play). Burke's brother was killed in a car accident not long after coming out.

I really doubt his wife is handling lots of gay weddings. There is absolutely no shortage of gay wedding planners.

Dan's just becoming more conscious about his language. He didn't like the negative Deadspin attention. He doesn't want to be the target of any outrage miners on the internet. He'll probably be acknowledging his male privilege soon.

They've certainly had gay themed events for years and they knew gay weddings would eventually happen

You really think one day Jason was reading the New Yorker and pointed out to mom and dad that social change was coming and Dad better change his tune for moms job?

He plays a liberal role. 5 years ago the role was ambivalent or apathetic on gay marriage. Now that same guy is loudly pro gay marriage

There's a tons of politicians celebrities and real people who followed the same path

You pretty much described America. The shift over the last 10 years has been remarkable.

I don't blame Dan for it. Most of us have probably taken the same path.

Right. Except most of us haven't taken the scolding anyone who is against it or calling them hateful people

i don't follow a ton of people on twitter but i follow enough. most are not major national celebrities. people like dan and matty basically. its very apparent that both dan and matty have this complex where they think they are more important than they really are especially on this topic. their calling out other people/twitter accounts is unlike any other accounts i follow. and its met with silence which i assume they think they are "getting" them. broussard with dan and steve elkington with matty recently.

the best part is people calling them out on the gay thing. they are responding with "we've evolved". so stupid given neither grant anyone else the ability to evolve.

also did anyone realize how quickly dan wanted to change the subject earlier this week when terry brought up how horrible Michael Sam performed in the combine?

terry: if you wanted a reason to not draft Sam, you have it. This guy just shown he's not nearly as athletic as his numbers make him to be

Dan : yeah. well any way that adam dunn guy huh?

--------------

hub : blah blah blah blah sam is a nice kid, probably not a football player

Dan : ok well lets talk about who the bears should draft.

all of the sudden who cares about sam? its. not. that. important.

They probably regard Bernstein the same way Bernstein regards people who posted comments to his columns on the CBS site. Those guys have nothing to gain by engaging Bernstein. Although, it would be nice to see them use some info. from locals about things he's said in the past to rip him a new one.
