I was mocking Daly FTR

He was never prepared, and always just said 'Awfully good"

Jimmy Haslam said they discussed a trade. Mortensen also confirmed Florio. There's too much smoke. I think York is lying.

I doubt he's lying. I bet the Browns asked them and SF laughed and hung up and that was the "discussion"

Of course he did. This means nothing.

This somehow means less. Mortensen's guys = Terry's guys.

Sure the way Florio reported it was unsurprisingly sensationalist and reached speculative conclusions. But story nonetheless was correct Browns made an offer. Just nice to know how messed up Browns are. :|

Bears/NFL: Dan Pompei, Brad Biggs, Mike Florio, Jim Miller, Boomer Esiason, Softy Mahler, Jim Brandstatter, Pete Bercich
Blackhawks: Ed Olczyk, Steve Konroyd, Chris Kuc, Mark Lazarus, Pat Foley
Bulls/NBA: Mark Schanowski, Neil Funk, Steve Ashburner, Aggrey Sam, Bill Wennington
Baseball: Mark Gonzales, Bruce Miles, Gordon Wittenmeyer, Jon Heyman, Paul Sullivan
Miscellany: Kevin Harlan, Richard Dietsch

Thoughts on any or all of 'em welcomed. Probably forgot a few. I'll share your reviews on the air soon.

Pompei, Biggsy and Miller are good. Olczyk, Konroyd and Foley are great. Schanowski is surprisingly good. Wennington and Funk are good. Mark Gonzales is solid and Bruuuuuuuccce is one of the best. Sure, he's a bit of a company man, who makes excuses sometimes for GM's and managers, but he has established great relationships with so many people and they don't mind doing interviews with him, while they might say no to someone else. Big upgrade with Bruce. Softy Mahler is a gas. Great personality-highly entertaining. Boomer, I don't care for all that much. I really enjoy when you guys had Casper on as well as Brenley in the past. I might suggest trying to get Brenley as a regular as wellagain. He seemed to like talking to you and though he might not be as knowledgeable about the local teams today, he covers the whole N.L. (as well as some interleague games) with the Diamond Backs these days. I also always liked Plesac as a guest and would love to hear him regularly.

Dan Pompei-- decent, but nothing of great value
Brad Biggs-- as long as he is not wheezing he is great
Mike Florio, Jim Miller, PTFB

Blackhawks:PTFB

Bulls/NBA: Mark Schanowski, Neil Funk, Bill Wennington-- all very good. Agreey Sam is awful.

Baseball: Mark Gonzales, Bruce Miles, Gordon Wittenmeyer-- I'm pretty meh on these guys. I don't love or hate them. Jon Heyman is usually pretty good, but his phone is terrible most of the time and Mully sucks at interviewing so that takes a lot of away from his segments. Paul Sullivan is an all time Cubs jock sniffer and is flat out awful.

Biggs is the best.

Guys I'll keep listening to if they are on - Pompei, Florio, Funk, Harlan, Schanowski, Wittenmeyer

Guys I'd probably try to find something better - Boomer, Softy, Aggrey, Miles, Sullivan

Guys I have no recollection of any thought they've expressed on radio - Brandstatter, Bercich, Ashburner, Wennington, Gonzales, Heyman, Dietsch

Guys that are talking hockey - Ed Olczyk, Steve Konroyd, Chris Kuc, Mark Lazarus, Pat Foley

First of all, I thought KC was good. He does deserve shit for not breaking stories and being a bit of a Bulls mouthpiece, but not everyone is Woj. Because he's a mouthpiece he does give good information on what the Bulls 'are thinking'. I mean, more than Mully/Hanley would, right? That's the point of the contributor.

Other Bulls peeps: Schanowski is great. Ashburner is great. Aggrey Sam is a bit too sleepy. Can't stand Funk/Wennington. B&B need more NBA guests since Bernstein has clearly checked out of the NBA given his lazy opinions on Joakim Noah. They use Ethan Skolnik when the Heat are in town and that's meh. Mitch Lawrence is fun as a shit-stirrer but is clearly New York focused.

Baseball: I think the local guys are fine, even Wittenmeyer. Have a short fuse with Levine. From the national side, Ken Rosenthal and Peter Gammons are good (Gammons especially with his connection to Theo), Paul Heyman seems to put in less work in coming up with Chicago stories. Steve Stone's crap as the 'mlb expert'. He's the White Sox color analyst, he shouldn't be used as more than that.

Football: Florio is a hack and a slimeball. Miller is a meatball. Pompei and Biggs are good, but maybe that's just the intros I like. I don't enjoy football enough to get through a Matt Bowen segment.

The miscellany is usually good, I even like the segments with the lawyers, since I pretty much listen to only the contributor segments via podcast so I miss out on the spillover where the hosts try to be lawyers.

biggs is the best contributor and he also has the best opening theme... both by a mile

steve stone is a painfull radio listen... he rambles on far too long and usually doesnt answer the question that was asked but he just steers the conversation to whatever Stone wants to talk about not what the caller asked.

For me personally, the Florio segment is useless because all he does on your segment is regurgitate what has been posted on PFT for hours/days already.... since i already visit that site daily the entire segment is old news

Hub is just too negative on anything bears

Charch wasnt listed but he is great, i enjoy the detailed stats he provides to backup his opinions, hope he stays around on your show

No, biggie. It's not like Florio doesn't have a history of taking giant leaps for page views. Nice to hear the Browns weren't offering 1st round picks and instead trying to buy low to take advantage of a prickly situation.

Mac,

Surprised you don't have a gambling guest. Mully & Hanley have two that are interesting in Baseer (sp?) and Fortenbaugh. Lord know the showpot needs all the help it can get.

I while back I was stuck in an airplane and listened to an NPR podcast I am too lazy to figure out how to unsubscribe to. They had an old French woman on talking about "Things you should never talk about." They are as follows:

Never talk about how you slept. Nobody cares.
Never talk about your period. Nobody cares.
Don’t ever talk about general aches and pains. It’s really tiresome.
Never talk about dreams. No one cares about your dreams.
Never talk about money, which Americans do all the time. It’s just so vulgar.
Do not discuss diet (gluten, dairy free, Paleo, vegetarianism, Atkins, I feel so fat, are you asleep yet?).

The entire time I was thinking...Fantasy Football!! Fantasy Football!!

BTW I am totally on board with this woman's list!

At first I didn't care for Ken Rosenthal, but he grew on me as he would often call Bernstein out on his baseball thoughts. You know, the ones where Dan sets up an elaborate theory and then expects the expert to confirm his brilliance.

I don't mind any of the national baseball guys. They each bring a little something. Gammons still brings it. Heyman has good sources. Stone is useless.
