Cubs currently losing to the Angels:13-1.

How could this happen, because you know the new Cub manager speaks Spanish?

I know it's spring, but I think this will be the norm in the regular season. Epstein is holding back ANY promising rookie and did next to nothing to help this club veteran wise. They are looking at all time bad!

I hope you are right. That's the thing. Because it's a "waste" to bring a rook up in a hopeless season(and cost the Cubs down the road,contract-wise),they never bring a rook up! I'm surprised Lake got a chance.

They don't want to add a couple of vets, lets play some of these guys. It's getting close to "show 'em or get outta town" time.

First of all, why would you risk losing someone you slate as an important player by bringing him up for meaningless games?

Second, what the blue hell is this "never" shit? Theo's only run the ship for two seasons for chrissakes! Or do we just blame him for everything that's happened since 1870?

I understand the negativity for today's game, and there's no shortage of things to ACTUALLY raise issues over, but please consider not stating things that are not only ridiculous but also unfounded.

I'm out of line to want to see a few guys that played AA last season in the majors? I'm not talking 4-8 guys, but it would be nice to see one or two guys make the club. This is year 3 with Theo and each year the horizon seems to get pushed another season back. Like Ditka says: That's BOOL

Yes, you are out of line ... it's inarguably out of line to expect him to just bring up a guy and risk losing him 1 or even 2 years ahead of time just so you can watch him play meaningless games at Wrigley Field .... and I see you're imagining future years and then applying that to now so that you can pretend you're making a point.

Bryant could be 100% ready, they wont bring him up to start the ticker on his arbitration clock until mid season to the extra year out of him. Same thing for Baez.

DT,
Never in his tenure...does that satisfy your bernstein-esque outrage?

If the Cubs suck to historic proportions this year,we will see who has more recruits in their camp after about 60 games:you and your "steady as she goes" logic or me with my "rebuild your ass" rants. According to your logic, nobody should be brought up unless they are surrounded by the '27 Yankees. Why do you (and others) think like the money is coming out of your pocket? Bring 'em up if they are ready. Let's see what they have. I'm sure the Cubs will have bucco bucks in the coffer to pay these guys by time they become free agents anyway. I don't think most of them are ready anyway. If they brought up Bryant and that young pitcher they got for trading Dempster, that might fill a few more seats at Wrigley.

No, that's not my logic, nor Theo's .... you make up shit, then you make up the other side of the debate, that way you can't lose .... good for you .... thankfully Theo has no interest whatsoever in appeasing fans such as yourself and instead is gambling on a certain plan to win rather than put a couple hundred more people in the seats which accomplishes NOTHING whatsoever.

Read BigFan's post above wherein he points out the reason to wait ... the so-called 'contract clock'.

You can piss and moan all you want, and you can dislike anything I write in response, but the FACT of the matter is things will not be as you want them to be so I would suggest to calm yourself and accept reality rather than wailing foolishly for some perceived instant gratification that would ultimately be counterproductive.

Friday's game meant nothing. Rusin and McDonald got lit up. Who cares. They suck.

Nice to see Bryant crank one.

You are ridiculous

Holding them back? You mean being wise with the arbitration click like EVERY OTHER TEAM IN BASEBALL?

You apparently dint even understand the most basic details of the plan you're arguing against

I understand starting to get impatient but this is over the line. This has become personal for you. You don't like Theo and you're rooting harder for yourself to be right than for the team.

Take a year off, Jimmy

Still, the last four seasons have put the Ricketts family in an unenviable class of its own among Cubs owners. No other ownership group in Cubs history has failed to reach .500 in its first four years, and the .421 winning percentage is worst among all Cubs owners.

Along the way, the Rickettses have run through four managers in five seasons, watched attendance decline each season (down 17 percent total) and maintained an average ticket price roughly 10 percent higher than it was the year before they took over a then-contender.

It's a message board,so I will continue to voice my displeasure. I understand waiting on rookies and I did state I didn't want a wholesale call-up,maybe one or two guys. Theo can't keep using that "wasted season" bullshit. You have to sign these guys sooner or later. Perhaps you and Don miniscule enjoy holding the pulpit a little too much. You don't agree with my opinion, that's fine. I can't change your mind but you or anyone else will not change my mind or when I choose to voice my displeasure.

Regarding Theo: I like a lot of moves he has made. He has picked up some scrap heap guys that can still play baseball. He made the one error with Jackson, but let's see what he does this year. I'm old and have watched a lot of this over the years (losing),so I admit I'm edgy.
