Actually a worthwhile remake. It did what few remakes have done for me, which is actually make me forget about the original while I was watching it. Yes, it's about a cop named Murphy who becomes a bionic cop and yes it takes place in Detroit. But the themes are different and this goes for more dramatic elements which give the story some nice depth. It's very well acted, and the guy who plays Murphy gives a great performance. This isn't just a cookie-cutter character. Gary Oldman borrows his accent from his Commissioner Gordon character but still delivers as well.

I'd actually like to see this developed into a series...the movie couldn't get into things like living as both man and machine and i think there's a lot you can do with that. But overall, with a few nods to the original at times, this is a solid film.

And Samuel L Fucking Jackson is excellent. Especially at the very end.
