I was just watching the 10:00 news on NBC, and towards the end of the sportscast Mike Adamle, broadcasting LIVE from Soldier Field, says "Um...and just a reminder, coming up next is the return of Sports Sunday. We've got, uh....gonna recap the highlights of the games we saw today. I'm on my knees, I've lost my notes..."

I know it's cold and you dropped your notes, but for fuck's sake, Mike, today is Saturday, not Sunday. I honestly don't think I have ever seen him do a sportscast where he doesn't mess up at least one thing. He almost makes Robin Baumgarten look marginally competent.

We were watching that train wreck. My wife goes "I thought when he was like that on Raw it was just an act." Oh no honey. Sadly it's very very real.

Robin Baumgarten is a mess of a chick. She isnt great looking to begin with, but she used to live across the street from me and I would see her at the cleaners, it was scary. And every time I see her on that WGN Kids morning playhouse, she just reminds of the chunky drunk chick

That was about as good as she could ever look. I would imagine if you saw her in the studio the caked on makeup is thick enough to stick your finger in. (or any other parts)

And every time I watch her she is giggling like she is drunk.

Its a much better watch when Erin McElroy subs for her.

How do you know that is isn't always drunk?

Adamle has CTE, or maybe the plastic surgery and hair treatment has melted his brain. Yes, he had a clipboard or RAW and still couldn't get it right!! Like they say to drivers in Victory Lane, "Just read the car, kid".

Yes, she purdy. You know McElroy has already thought of a thousand ways to get Robin out of that seat and make it hers. Or dream big and get onto a station that has a national network of affiliates.

I gotta figure Baumgarten knows it too. A much prettier anchor sitting 10 ft away from you every morning being relegated to traffic while you get to sit in the big chair. Im sure the bosses at GN know this as well. I would think its just a matter of time till they say buh bye to Robin and promote McElroy.

I really dont know the WGN audience or any morning TV audience, I am amazed is it even popular. With the exception of when I was 6 and watched early morning cartoons, who the fuck has the time to turn on a the TV, except for housewives and the unemployed. Guessing Robins glumpy image might work with that crowd. Roseanne, Rosie, Oprah they all connected with the Bon bon crowd.

Look at Chico Bigfan over here.

I suspect their morning news is basically designed to be watched in 15-to-20-minute chunks as you're getting ready and walking out the door. It's not something you just plop down and watch, because it gets very very repetitive if you do.

I like Robin. She's funny, quick witted, self deprecating. She's good on that show. Just enough serious too when necessary.

I watch it for maybe a half hour in the mornings. As far as morning news shows go they at least seem to have a little sense of humor about it and themselves and poke a lot of fun at it so its not too bad.

Before I left I used to watch WGN in the morning for whatever time I had. Larry, Roseanne Tellez, Conrad and Robin was really good and loose I thought.

10 minutes at the top or bottom of the hour to give me local news and weather, the rest is usually fluff. I prefer the production at ABC but the "I had a dick in my ass and another in my mouth 4 hours ago" tone of Hosea Saunders has me over to GN. "Chunky drunk chick" from Chambana is about right, and many mornings I have to wonder if she wasn't having "just one more" late last night.

You would think she'd have to know that, but I don't know if she does. I was going to say that she rivals Kerry Sayers for the title of "Person who cannot read yet inexplicably holds a job in broadcasting in a major market." but she's miles ahead of Kerry since she's on TV in a much more prominent role for several hours a day. I used to put the WGN Morning News on while I ate breakfast and got ready for work and would probably see 15 or 20 minutes a day and she would screw up several times just in that tiny timeframe, and it wasn't just the frequent misspeaking. I've seen her:

*Have an open bag of chips next to her on the desk. There might be a cup of coffee or water next to an anchor, but most of them try to hide open food.

*Have her mouth full of food as the camera came back to her when it was her turn to read a story. Larry Potash had to take the story because she was still chewing and couldn't do it.

*Belch on the air. Nothing says "I'm a pro!" more than belching on the air.

*She started choking on something she was eating and was coughing so much she had to have Larry once again take over because she couldn't start the story. Please note, this is a different occasion than the other one I mentioned.

*She often gasps or groans when her co-host is reading a story.

What really kills me is that she makes no effort to improve and will just laugh and shrug her shoulders after fucking up. I know this isn't the BBC News, it's supposed to be lighthearted, but everyone else on the show manages to be lighthearted and a little silly while still being able to perform their most basic responsibilities in a competent manner. Doesn't she have any personal or professional pride?

Her laugh is absolutely awful, too, and she laughs at EVERYTHING. I have long suspected that people who laugh at anything and everything are either stupid or insane. In her case, I think she's a fucking dunce.

When Erin McElroy, Valerie Warner, or Ana Belaval would fill in for her the broadcast would go much more smoothly and their performance would be far more professional. I know she's been there for a long time, but I have no idea how she manages to keep her job. She must either have pictures of someone or is spreading her cheeks for someone with a chubby, middle-aged, incompetent dipshit fetish.

I stopped watching a while ago, but I'll still flip over to 9 once in a while and leave it on if she's not there.

Agreed. And from all the way back to Johnny b days. Fun and funny, which goes a long way. In fact, I'll step out and say would

What you guys need to realize is that the WGN morning news is more Morning Zoo than Morning News by choice. They (and Robin) know she's a mess. I think that once they get the opportunity, Erin will take her place in a heartbeat. They've already got her doing the early hours before Robin takes over and she goes into the traffic beat.

Look @ Paul Conrad. He acts as though he isn't a meteorologist. He's just some guy, off the street, no tie, giving the weather. It's a part of their schtick. Robin's a mess. He doesn't give a shit. Erin is hot. Larry suffers through it all. Pat's the schlocky sports guy. Dean's there to get another paycheck. It's all in fun.

25% of the day is the WGN Morning News. They're really overdoing it.
