Not at all. And I don't care if you believe me or not I said when Patrick Ewing was drafted he would never win a championship. I can see things.

Statistically, that's a pretty safe bet.

Next got Rory McIlroy and Jabari Parker.

I'm not saying they will even get to dominate level, but the are the best shot in the near future.

I think Wiggins will be better than Parker.

Duncan for sure, but he was sorta contemporary with Jordan. Kobe was definitely iffy, he nearly fell out of the lottery. KD perhaps? Don't remember what folks said about him. Obviously there was some debate between him and Oden, so maybe that means he wasn't can't miss LBJ style.

A lot of people doubted KD because he was so thin. I was one of those people. I was wrong.

Anyway that is my point. The NBA is one giant dart board isn't it?

I wouldn't say that. If you look at the perennial all pros, the guys that are either hof shoe ins or borderline hofs, without looking a sample size up, the majority have probably have been drafted anywhere from 1-10. That's more consistent than the nfl, for example, which is more similar to your analogy of a dart board in my opinion.

Sorry I meant say last 10 years. Have all the #1-8 picks hit? Hell no. What the hell is wrong with basketball that not even being a 1st round pick assures you a chance at stardom? There are 70X the players in football and they hit better I think.

My position has been that football is easier to play than basketball, professionally. Not ground breaking analysis here I know, but you need more natural talent/characteristics in pro basketball than in football. For example if you're under six foot you can most likely forget about a career in the nba as a star, with minimal exceptions, even if you're fast and can jump to the moon. Not so in football. And so on.

Lol what?

The 1-8 picks in any sport don't always pan out. Really that's just common sense.

The NFL has 5x as many roster spots so it would make sense that more nfl players "hit". There's a reason the NBA draft only has two rounds now.

Huh? Have ALL the picks hit in any sport?

Football is just as difficult. Look at the Bears drafts. Case closed.

Yeah they do not always pan out but in the NBA almost entire rosters are first round picks. Now they are called "guys" then there were the next "thing".

Are you really not understanding the fact that 12 man and 53 man rosters make the expected value of first round picks significantly different?

PM: I think you're reading NFL-speak into the NBA. In the NFL, being a first round or even second round pick is a big thing. In the NBA, it's commonly expected that picks after 10 or so will probably amount to solid but unspectacular starters at best, and reliable bench warmers or specialists at worse. Going back to your dart board analogy, I'd revise my earlier opinion and say you're probably throwing darts after pick 9 or 10 so.
