Prevailing winds in the spring are from the east; it is really no surprise. Not that I go to many Cubs games these days but I typically hold off until late June in order to give myself a decent chance of not freezing.

A few years back, I went to a Cubs' game in early May. It was 72 degrees in the western burbs, but it was about 50, with a cold wind howling at the park. I was under-dressed, and we didn't stay for the whole game.

In a thread a few weeks ago someone mentioned that Mully & Hanley (I think) interviewed AA. I posted a pic of Arn Anderson that was deleted. It doesn't bother me, it's your board and if you find it annoying you can obviously delete the pics if you want, I was just curious. I suppose it may have happened before and I didn't notice.

The snow actually acts as a blanket and protects the ground from the cold. If the ground is frozen at all under snowcover, its likely only a few inches deep and a couple of 40 degree days will take care of that.

Golf courses and baseball fields are going to be a mudfest for weeks

I think as long as we don't get some really warm weather followed by a late Spring freeze, this winter's no biggie for various agricultural industries. But given that parts of the Northeast hit 70 in late January and then dropped back down into sub-zero temps, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a few days/ a week of unseasonably warm weather followed by another relatively deep freeze. If that happens, various perennial bloomers (mostly fruit trees along Michigan's west coast and the lake in Wisconsin) will pop too early and then die off in the freeze, resulting in everyone having to eat Polish cherries for another year.

This will put a serious crimp in jogging in sleeveless shirt season

Looks like you lost some weight

I was just gonna say this. Snow Schmoe, the frostline is deeper than 30 inches now and that's why we're seeing so main main breaks, B-Box cracks and shit like that. This is the deepest frostline in 40 years is what I've been told by CL Public Works even with that insulation from the snow.

They are saying since 77-78 winter up here. Lakes are frozen over 40 inches deep also.
