We're expecting contributions from Mark McNeill, Philip Danault, and Garret Ross (who in particular is a Shaw/Bollig type). Jeremy Morin still can't crack a lineup.
I'm hoping this is about putting money on the books for a trade (Bollig is worthless as an expiring contract), but it doesn't look likely.
The $500K overpay isn't the disaster that Bickell's $4M deal or Crawford's $6M deal could develop into. Now those are contracts to worry about. I don't think there's a large opportunity cost of playing Bickell either as McNeill and Morin ideally are better than 4th liners. Danault doesn't have the scoring chops to be a top-6 forward. So he'll center the 3rd or 4th which isn't blocked by Bollig. While I prefer to not have Bollig on the team he has progressed and and bought in to Q. Also there will always be a market for neanderthals like him.
