the worst thing is that comedians have to always wind up apologizing for the joke because the court of public opinion is ready to hang draw and quarter them. even minnelli wasn't offended by the joke. if the person you are making fun of isn't offended, then the joke worked. don rickles would've never had a career...comedians wouldn't have a career. comedy is about fucking with people, and always has been.

and i don't think anybody was really offended, truly. it's just easy enough now to get your name or your group out there so you make controversy out of thin air and suddenly there's news. seems like it's more out of boredom than anything else.

I have no problem offending people but I want to do it on purpose. I feel bad if I offend someone without meaning to do so. But I will say, if you're offended all the time, that's on you rather than on those you find offensive. The expectation that others should bend based upon your penchant to take offensive is unrealistic and clearly untenable.

Agree totally. I do feel bad if I unintentionally offend someone, but even then, at the same time, I would hope they realize I did it unintentionally and forgot about it a second later. What's the point of even being offended? I'd almost go as far as to say I don't really understand the term all that well.

Palin is an idiot. Romney deserved an apology. McCain didn't demand an apology from a talk show host.
