Children from wealthier families get better educations.

Those who look down on others who haven't had the same opportunities, and just dismiss them as "not trying hard enough", should reconsider their positions.

I think people with money are typically in better school districts with better education. But I don't think that doesn't mean people with less money and in a worse school shouldn't try harder to overcome their disadvantage.

I don't believe there is any evidence you can show some people that will make them believe a person born in a upper middle class or rich family has more educational opportunities than someone born poor or in the lower middle class. Some kids are able to overcome the obstacles of their environment because they are brilliant or someone helped them out. If someone that's poor and rich work their asses off the rich person will likely test better.

This is absolutely true. Who would argue against this?

Rich kids are in a better position to succeed than poor kids. Everyone knows this. Cant argue against it. It isn't debatable.

In other news, the sky is blue & Brian Bickell sucks.

So you agree that the accumulation of wealth is absolutely not performed on a level playing field in our country and that there is little correlation between wealth and hard work/intelligence, correct?

Probably like $75K a year, which for a computer salesman in the late 80s/early 90s was pretty damn good.

And should the rich kid slacker be revered for taking over Dad's firm after barely graduating college?

Of course. There is nothing more American than generational wealth!

Incorrect. Their are children of rich people who turn out to be lazy turds, & their are children of poor people who turn out to be productive contributors to society.

Do rich people have an advantage? Uh...yea.

It would just be minutiae to have this debate again though so I'm out.

Wrong Section. This is going to devolve into a political thread real quick.

It was a political thread to begin with. This was the original political section. Remember politics didn't matter on this board until late 2007.

How does being revered manifest itself? Who's doing the revering? What does it even matter?

In other news,

people who run fast win Olympic medals in track (darn no handicap for us slow guys)
people who are tall are more likely to play professional basketball
people with good hand eye coordination are more likely to play professional baseball
people with good looks get hot spouses

People who use their God given talents are more likely to make more money than those that don't. Wow.

I guess it matters as much as looking down on people does

I would say it manifests itself in politics with idiot lucky sperm club members turned Public official telling their poor constituents to just work harder or with some of these people being held up as an example of hard work.

But its just perception, so it doesnt matter for the most part imo. Just annoying.

Wouldn't it be sad if any of those world class talents never developed simply because their parents didn't have the resources to nourish their ability?

I know how it feels because my parents were poor and it was hard to advertise my devastatingly good looks.

What does being born into money have to do with "God given talents"?

And on the 8th day, God created nepotism

Although I guess God would be the ultimate nepotism abuser
