With that said, he will work hard and make an impact on many games. He won't make the Bulls any better though.

I can't believe anyone would want Steve Francis though, so at least Paxson didn't pick him up.

That's all the proof anyone needed that IMU was wrong.

I think Augustine is right where he should be. Puts him in the best spot to succeed. Taj is obviously better than Boozer right now but I have feeling Carlos would completely shut down mentally if he were relegated to coming off the bench.

cof is still not convinced tho. So we should probably all back off our Noah love.

He has over-maximized his talent. In fact, it could be said that he has a "high motor", is a "grinder" and other such things.

It still bugs me to this very minute how bad of a shooter he is and more irritatingly how incredibly un-aesthetic his shooting form is. I still would love him to defend elite centers better.

But the Bulls could do much worse. And as I have said before, I was wrong about him.

Even when you admit you were wrong about him you always have to add in the things that you see as bad.

Who are these "elite centers" that he needs to guard better?

No doubt his shot is ugly as hell, but he is a career 50% field goal shooter and a 73% free throw shooter. Not sure how he can be classified as a "bad shooter"

what can I say, he still offends my aesthetic sensibilities even as I recognize him for what he has become. I can say the same for Mario Elie or Kenny Smith, two guys who used to make me pull my hair out as a Rockets fan even as they were integral to the Rockets' success.

I'd like to see him guard Howard, Hibbert, Drummond and Marc Gasol better.

You do realize dunks and put backs count towards FG%. Noahs shot isnt unreal, but it is poor and these stats are basically him being left open to shoot that shot. Quick math and I would say he is about 32% from more than 5 feet away from the hoop last season

Yup. I thought it was a terrible pick.

I'm still not convinced he isn't just the next in line of Bulls regular season heroes though. However, with where he was drafted and what should reasonably be expected of him that isn't too bad.

I don't believe anybody ever thought he had All NBA 1st team potential, which he does this year, but vast improvement wasn't hard to foresee. Even though he looked and sometimes acted like a clown off the court, he was also always known to work his ass off.

No one can be D-bagged for believing this was a bad draft pick (or should I say bad pic?).

Kudos to Noah for making himself into a solid NBA player.

I remember the championship game they played against Ohio State and being impressed by Noah. Oden was all anyone talked about at the time, but I remember wondering why. Even if Oden stayed healthy, I never thought he'd be as great as everyone thought. Perhaps another version of Roy Hibbert but not a superstar. At the time, Noah didn't have the scoring ability of Oden and Oden was younger, but Noah had everything else Oden had.

The thing about Oden was that he was coming off a wrist surgery and seemed to be playing at about 60% of his level and he was still really dominant. The potential for him was off the charts while also showing some pretty strong ability even at his current level. The wrist should not have been an issue going forward either.

Hibbert was pretty much a bum in college. It's funny how things change though. The job of a GM must be maddening.

True. I just thought it was a bit overplayed, even with the injury. I remember a few sports talkers (not many) being AMAZED that he shot free throws left-handed, as though that was some sign that he was going to be the greatest center ever.

Oden literally had one dominant game that year and it was the loss to Florida

Kept waitng for him to breakout

That isn't true. He had a game against Purdue in the Big Ten tournament where he went for 17 points and 19 rebounds that was really impressive. There were others too.

It is hard to describe, but when watching him it was easy to see him becoming the dominant big man of the NBA. Unfortunately, he was derailed by a serious injury so we'll never know what would have happened.

That was one of the few seasons I got into college basketball. I guess I kept waiting for him to have some insane 35-20 line or something.

But he was great in that championship game. Especially offensively. He was dominant rebounding and blocking shots most of the year, but offensively not so much. In that game he was killing it.

He absolutely looked like the next big thing and probably would have been with health
