I learned that Rene Descartes is considered to be one of the fathers of Western Philosophy and that my philosophy teacher had a drinking problem.

I used to hang out with these two chicks, Tanya (who is D'arcy from Smahsing Pumpkins' sister) and her Polish friend, Magda who loved that shit. Magda liked to yell, "LET'S GET ROBO-ED!!!!!!!"

 I've never met anyone who did that, which is surprising considering some of the people I've hung around in my life.

He called you a floater because he thought you were an unsinkable shit

Not in at least twenty years. We had some good times.

My philosophy teacher had a thick German accent. When he said Kant, it sounded like Caller Bob.

Had a philosophy teacher at COD that sounded just like yours did when saying Kant.

Mine was at CoD, but it wasn't Werner.

It gets you fucked up. I only did it when I was in my teens, and I had already scraped the resin out of my bowl.

There were lots of people doing the robo thing on my floor freshman year in Ames...a pretty interesting group already, but when they started chuggin' the 'tussin, things got really crazy.

Then there was my friend's roommate out in Iowa City...fucker used to get bombed on Delsym. From the way my friend told it, the ritual was to down some of that, then put on headphones and sunglasses, and just sit in the corner of the room and rock back and forth...I guess this worked out pretty well for him, because one time he started this and realized he has his final paper due for a Philosophy class...wrote the paper bombed off his ass and the prof told him it was some of the best writing he's ever read...

I never had the delight to meet this fellow while him and my friend were rooming together...ended up moving out/getting kicked out...don't remember all the details, but something about a pumpkin landing on a car was involved...

...a few years later, my friend and I were in Cedar Rapids and we decided to look him up...was a really nice guy and seemed like a fun time...him and his friends were watching some movie involving fish people...I don't know why but that always cracks me up.
