I dont think it is a unique concept to steal stuff and then sell it on Ebay.

But $7 Mill worth of junk by 3 people?

People who steal money from other people tend not to do enough jail time in my opinion. Why not give them 20 years each without parole?

It's not about torture. It's about the fact that non-violent criminals tend to get light sentences even though in some cases the money they took is other people's life savings.

Would you rather burn to death in 3 minutes or spend 20 years in prison?
Keep in mind that prison comes with butt sex.

Jesus pardoned a thief, you want to give him 20 years without parole.

Yikes.

Stealing is already built into the price. If no one ever steals, the corporation just has more money drop to its bottom line. Go, rich guy, go!

so how much stealing is accounted for by the big wigs ? once that limit has been reached and the theft continues, at that point does it become wrong ?

Jesus saved his soul. He didn't get the guy off the cross.

I wouldn't use the term "wrong" in this instance. Is it right or wrong to make a 2000 % markup on a cheap Chinese toy and advertise the shit out of it to kids who are part of a television culture created by advertisers? It just is. I can find a lot of other things to get worked up about before I start complaining about the Bogdanov family. I just don't give a shit if the money is in some Gypsy's bank account or in a trust for Sam Walton's great great grandson.

It doesn't become less criminal to steal from a thrift store because the stuff they are selling they got for free.

Who gets to decide what is "criminal"? A lot of CSFMB members are reverse Robin Hoods promoting robbing the poor to give to the rich. Go, rich guys, go!

And some CSFMB members promote the reverse, yet can't be bothered to put into action the very theories they espouse

It isn't easy leading a revolution. That's why they don't happen every day. Also, they generally aren't driven by guys who are as comfortable as Tall Midget and me.

Interesting that stealing makes you think of low income people fighting for a livable wage

Stealing from billion dollar corporations who have everything insured? Give them 20 without parole!

Paying your workers 5 dollars an hour while your personal wealth is 30 billion? Job creator!

This American Girl doll should be 35% less expensive! Let's destroy the system!

I know you're a college educated man. Do you ever stop to think about "systems", why they might be in place, who they benefit, if there might be a better system? Or do you just say, "That's the system! You can't challenge that!"

I know you don't think about it this way. Because I don't believe you're an evil person. But you're really promoting and making excuses for a "system" in which some people are hoarding resources and other do not have enough.

There is a lot of unfairness, and to some degree there always will be. There are better systems. I find your proposals to be even worse though.

I'm not really making excuses. I just don't think the problem with the system is that some items have high markups and rich people are making more profit than they could selling things that people don't need to buy.

Nah. You guys got this.

I'll just sit back and wait for the CSFMB to solve the economic troubles of the world like we always do.

The point is that people get bent out of shape when the poor (or whoever else) steals in the sense they have been taught is "stealing." But then when the rich guys "steal" every day, no one raises an eye brow. When you hoard 1% of the wealth, stealing by the other 99% should be expected. But Mini Ditka wants to lock them up for 20 years with no parole. Keep in mind this is a crime that only hurts millionaires and billionaires financially by a fraction of what they are worth (and not even that much if they have insurance). And yet, the conversation here is that they should have the same prison sentence as a rapist or someone who commits manslaughter.

I'm not condoning theft in general. It's just the attention that it receives from society vs other immoral actions that go unnoticed every day.
