How is it going to make Hawk irrelevant?

If it works as Bernstein describes, there is no grey area. There is a right and wrong answer. I don't need Hawk to tell me what he thinks. I don't need Bernstein to tell me what he thinks. It's just a fact.

I didn't say it would make Hawk irrelevant. I'm not arguing that point at all.

You specifically said this will make Bernstein irrelevant. I'm trying to understand what you mean by that.

Bernstein is more excited by the marginalization of Hawk and his kind than the actual info

Because in theory, the players you see today may be on that championship baseball team a few years from now, therefore the games have relevance, however small.

Contrast to the Bulls where none of the current players will be on the next Bulls championship team.

This will bring out the idiots, which ultimately creates show content. I would imagine this is bait.

The score has never really felt comfortable talking basketball for extended periods of time. Bernstein is about the best they have at it and he is really not that good when it comes to breaking down the players and the league. He attempts to have street cred by talking about "stuff" and his CBA days

Read the article. At least try and understand the context of what I was saying.
Bucky Chris wrote:

I've answered that a few times.

Let me put it another way. If there is a statistic that 100% definitively proves something, there is no discussion. That makes discussion of it irrelevant. That's why we don't have long discussions on who threw harder between Greg Maddux and Kerry Wood. We know the answer. It's factual.

Bernstein makes his money by arguing against things that aren't irrefutable facts. So, if something is factual, it makes him talking about it irrelevant. It would be like him arguing who will win the 2012 NBA finals. It doesn't happen because it is simply a fact. So, when he writes an article basically saying "Hawk is going to be proven wrong by facts" then he also makes himself irrelevant.

Right but basketball is a lot more exciting than baseball. A bad Bulls team is better than a bad Cubs or White Sox team.

What's the deal with the Ricketts family? Is this rebuilding project a front for them being cheap? Why do they have to redo the field before they have any money?

Well, the demographic for baseball is getting older every year.

Good, maybe one of these years I'll be able to afford to bring my family to a game.

The NBA would be a terrible product to watch without 3 pointers and a 24 second shot clock. Why not add a pitch clock to the game of baseball?

I just read over the weekend that the MLS is as popular with kids as MLB is in the US.

The Major League baseball rulebook says pitchers are to throw the ball within 12 seconds if a runner is not on base. If they don't throw the ball in 12 seconds the umpire is to call a ball. If you have a pitch clock it will be obvious to an umpire when 12 seconds have elapsed.

Well, a lot of kids do play soccer. But it just goes to show that MLB can't hold their attention span.

I would argue this is going to give Bernstein a helluva lot of show content.

Oh sure this will give him plenty of content to misinterpret the findings like he did with defensive shifts. He just assumed that because the Cubs were employing defensive shifts they were preventing runs. That was until the data showed they actually allowed more runs than they prevented.

so true...that was hilarious when he figured out they were really bad at defensive shifts. Part of his new narrative to explain Dale away now, as it was something he used to praise him before.

If you enjoyed watching a regular season Bulls win you are a fucking meatball idiot. It's meaningless. However, Lebron wearing a new black mask last week was "a thing", and if you enjoyed that game you obviosly have an appreciation for big boy basketball.

that would be because their brand of soccer, unlike the NBA, NFL and MLB is not the best in the world.

Kids are not spending the money. It will be interesting to see how the manifests itself over time, when these kids grow up.

Luckily soccer is one of those things that you outgrow like Teletubbies and building mud forts.

I don't buy the MLS being that popular. The league has no stars and is filled with the most boring personalities ever assembled this side of an Evans Scholar house. Are kids really sitting around talking about Michael Bradley? The level of play is subpar, plodding, and defensive when compared to Europe. They've been saying soccer was growing in popularity for 40 years. I will say it's more accessible. You can watch the best leagues whenever you want. The best talent and the big money of the sport remains in Europe and will forever remain there. Thus, MLS will always be a red-headed stepchild. Soccer might even decrease in popularity amongst kids since it's been shown that headers contribute to CTE.

Soccer will never decline in popularity. Any numbskull can play soccer at a basic level. Shit even I could do for a few mintues before rupturing a tendon.

Jeff Van Gundy has forgotten more about the NBA and basketball in general than Bernstein will ever know
