On Fox and NatGeo right now. It's an updated version of Sagan's series. Hosted by Neil Degras Tyson. Looks like it could be good.

You know I agree with this, but I fail to see the connection.

BernSTINE's douchiness knows no bounds?

 I just realized that BernSTINE comes up on my phone's autofinish for words, with the capital letters and everything. Thanks SomeGuy.

Is Tyson held in the same academic esteem as Sagan once was?

I don't know. Sagan was a mentor to Tyson. I think Tyson is known for his ability to simplify things and to get the message delivered to a mass audience in an understandable way. He's not one of those physicists who is just brilliant but can't communicate. He is on all kinds of specials on Discovery and NatGeo and the History channel.

I was not aware that space had a big calendar just floating in it. Was this a new discovery?

I don't know, but at least Sagan had the decency to wear a sportcoat.

Scientists discovered it by accident in 1978 in Valencia, California while filming KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park.

A little basic and uninspired.

Agreed. I hope it's just because it's the first one.

I think it came off as "a little basic" because it was intended to try to reach as wide an audience as possible...it is airing on Fox after all.

looks like if you enter a credit card number you can buy the episode for free on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrXPdsc8fxo

what the fuck is that shit?

doubt anything in there i havent seen on nova anyway. the problem with astro science is it changes at a very slow rate. all we know is based off what we can see in various wavelengths of light. we basically know nothing.
