He'd be right.

I agree with him. But it's more fun to mock him for using the #fired hashtag.

Bernstine could have taken this at face value and left it at what a horrible human Dottie Sandusky is. I'm pretty sure she doesn't speak for any of the Paternoites however.

Yeah, I left that one up for like three months because I didn't think I could top it and I still don't think I can. Life just served that one up on a platter.

I'll stand alone on this one. I'm partial to anything highlighting the ridiculousness of the "senior columnist" tag.

I do a terrible job organizing these things (some of them I think I just deleted off my desktop right away), but of the ones I found in a folder called "csfmb avatars," these are my favorites:

But that's enough self-celebration for one day.

Now Teery tells people calling in to not be passive aggressive.

After listening to caller Mike I can't help but wonder what bernstein believes the purpose of the regular NBA season is. The whole issue here is that bernstein begins every conversation with a faulty premise, i.e. "all that matters is winning a championship". That thought is so obviously wrong I can't understand why it isn't challenged.

It seemed to me he wanted to say "To make money for the owners" but he just couldn't get it out.

Bernstein kept insisting the question be answered in the literal sense. The caller did a poor job of forming his argument and making a point.

Right, but if he says that it clearly shows what a fallacy "the only thing that matters is winning a championship" actually is. The problem starts with dan's illogic. The inarticulate callers just don't help matters.

Dan just was having so much fun with that caller. It is a bit masochistic actually. The worst thing Dan said was hyperbolic argument.

It is difficult to argue with Dan when he will never give an inch. He will simply change things on you slightly or ask and additional question when he gets in trouble. Matty actually just did a good job against him on the McCown/Lovie/Glenton thing. Terry wanted to back Matty but was afraid but he tried to help. Matty can be good when he chooses not be be purposefully dumb.

It's irritating because the argument only flows one way. Petchesky, Bernstein, et al leap to defend LeBron from even the mildest criticism, but that's not an inferiority complex, you see, it's Appreciating Greatness.

EDIT: great example from Deadspin. I'll save you the time and agony of reading it; it's a story about LeBron playfully bantering with some suburban housewife at a T-Wolves game, and it ends with the editorial aside "Suck it, LeBron haters." I mean, seriously.

yeah its easy to forget hes a complete idiot when he does this to dan because it works really well. he basically made dan look like an idiot without trying to hard.

my favorite part of yesterdays show came minutes before than when they came back from commercial and terry was like "you guys got us and were right about mccown". but dan had to add in a caviat claiming that his "mccown won't make alot of money" was prefaced with the idea of him being a backup somewhere and that was what he was claiming all along. Terry didn't seem to have any of that. and then Dan spouted "WELL IF YOU THOUGHT THAT MCCOWN WOULD GET A 2 YR 10 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT THEN GOOOOOOOD FOR YOU!!"

that whole discussion back when it happened was centered on the idea that people wanted to keep mccown and get rid of cutler AS THE STARTER. THE PREMISE BEING THAT IF HE COULD START FOR THE BEARS HE COULD PROBABLY START FOR OTHER TEAMS!....it was never about him signing as a backup. Dan just making crap up.....again.

That is some pretty interesting logic. Yes, no team payed for McCown to be a backup, they instead paid for him to be a starter. I don't recall Bernstein arguing that somebody would make him a starter elsewhere - he essentially called him what he was - a journeyman QB benefitting from playing with talented WR's and being coached by Trestman.

For two guys (moreso Bernstein) who know so much, they were flat out wrong about the backup QB salary's. $4 or $5 million is the going rate for veteran's and there aren't many around of any quality. Why they fought so strongly about other teams wanting to pay for McCown is still a mystery to me.
