Now The Stein totally changed what he said last week. He said, "Yeah, maybe he'll get a raise, sure."

Biggs wrote today that McCown will get 3 million from someone to be a backup. Bernstein yelled at callers last week when it was suggested he'd get this type of money. "No he won't.", said the Bernstein. "Who's gonna pay him that?" he said.

Yeah, he'll get it, Bernstein. As was said by me. As was thought by many. It was common sense.

Bump.

They lose. I knew McCown would get a big raise. I also knew 3 or 4 teams would want him as a starter.

Bernstein said he would not get a raise and no team would want him. Argued with a caller over this. Called the caller stupid. Of course, Boers agreed with Bernstein.

mcowen is worth 3 mil. bernstein is smart as shit though. he says things that he knows will get people riled up and participate in his job. which makes him more money. i dont think bernsie is worth more then $100k/yr, but im sure he makes 10x that. if you think of it reasonably, he is actually bitching about his own wage, but spinning it in a way that makes him seem superior. i wouldn't doubt if hes a stone cold republican.

They STILL said McCown sucked on today's show! Bernstein says don't judge him on a small recent sample size, judge him on his career. Boers said "He's not that good". I've been watching Bears QB's since 1972 (ooops, sorry  ),I have to think real hard to find ANYBODY WHO PLAYED BETTER over a span of 5 games. Especially in the last 20 years or so. Kramer,McMahon,Miller had stretches, but I don't know if they played that well.

Bernsie is just playing the percentages. Odds are that a back up that does well in one season makes the next team regret the big contract they give him. That said I hope McCown helps Lovie win.

Aside from the Bears, Mccown's new team will be my favorite. I hope he's the fuckin MVP so Bernstein has an aneurysm.

I'm of the opinion that Trestman is a QB whisperer. Every backup under his tenure will be better than he has been at any other point in his career. Let someone else pay MacNoun

Why didn't it work with Cutler?

You don't think Cutler was good last year?

Good? Yes.

But given that he has physical tools as good as anyone in the NFL, arguably the best WR tandem in the NFL, a pretty good offensive line, Forte at RB, and the QB whisperer at coach, I need great, not good. I would at least expect him to perform on par with his journeyman backup.

On a side note, I do think Trestman is a great offensive coach. It was a shot at Cutler, not Trestman.

He certainly was better last year than any other year with the Bear.

And given his stated love, devotion and belief in the system as well as another year in it I have no reason to think that Cutler will not put up some out of this world Bears historic QB season. I give an injury caveat however to him or a few offensive linemen.

It's gonna be hard to get historic numbers when your QB plays only 12 games.

Since the Bears invested in Cutler as the guy, I think they should refrain from spending significant resources on a QB and avoid drafting one. Sign this year's David Carr, Jason Campbell, McCown, etc., let Trestman whisper, and use that pick on the D.

are you drunk? too stoned for short term memory? the reason people want to resign him is BECAUSE cutler doesn't always play!

You realize McCown is employed by some other team right? The Bears cannot resign him. I am saying they shouldn't draft a QB.

I gotta disagree with that. It's time to draft and develop for life post Cutler which, given his diabeetus and pride bone injuries might be 2-3 years off.

I was sort of open to that, but them signing Cutler means they're much higher on him than you and I. If that's how they feel about Jay now, then drafting an apprentice doesn't make sense to me. Signing Cutler means win now mode, and a rookie QB doesn't strike me as win now.

Green Bay didn't let having that crock wearing cock selfie fuck stop them from drafting QB's with an eye toward the 2-3 year future. And drafting a guy with the intention of having him understudy for 3 years isn't bad business.

It just means less new blood for one of the worst defenses in the league last year.

They can't draft a QB in a "win now" year. 2 QB's stay protected on the roster and one goes to the practice squad. He in turn can be grabbed by any other team. Only way to draft a rookie if you dress 3 QB's every game.

I think this is correct.....or not!
