Plus, I think it takes even longer now since I'm pretty sure Jacques Cousteau is dead.

WHY DON'T THEY MAKE THE WHOLE PLANE LIKE THEY MAKE THE BLACK BOX?

I fucking hate that joke.

They have been used in the past, but they had special Sonar equipment.

Yeah, but then people would know where they are; I'm guessing most of their locations are somewhat secret.

The French used a "special" sub in 2009 for a plane search. Nobody cares where there subs are.

The Polish have a great one with a screen door. Would be perfect for this.

They are. There were three Americans on the flight.

The subs are equipped with solar powered search lights.

Ok, so the Chinese have released coordinates and debris photos of a possible site. The satellite photos were taken on Sunday and the location is around where they would have initially guessed...so why are we only hearing about this now?

The chinese go in first to sterilize the site or they needed to take all the Boeing good stuff they could find to copy.

Someone turned off the transponder.
It's a popular misconception that planes are on radar at all times.

it just baffles me that is even possible. 20 years or so from now this will never happen because our military will be mapping the earth in real time at a resolution that can read license plates from space. don't believe me? they already are starting it. they are taking cell phone ccd's, hundreds of them in a cluster, each one zoomed in on a specific spot from a drone. combined, the image can cover 10 square miles or so at incredible resolution, enough to see body expressions like someone waiving. all done in real time video, while being recorded for future recon when needed. the amount of information needed to store all of this is unimaginable, but they are working on it.

The plane is more likely to have flown off into space. With or without help from aliens.

So the Chinese photos turned out to be nothing.

The WSJ is reporting that the engines automatically sent live data to Rolls Royce (the manufacturer) hours after the last transponder signal, which means the plane could have flown for hours. Malaysia is denying this. If the WSJ report is correct, it would make the terrorist hijacking theory more likely.

yeah I just don't believe that nobody knows where it is. Someone does, and they don't want the public to know because hundreds of lives are in serious danger. One of the terrorist threats might be the plane will be blown up if the location is disclosed.
