Emery admitted it yesterday, and said (pretty much a quote) "the most important thing will be pass blocking."

I doubt they get a "big name" backup.

Cool. Didn't know that. Thanks.

I think they need to rethink having a rb "backup". A hybrid rb who can be integrated into plays routes that also include forte is more preferable imo. All about mismatches and more options for jay.

never mind!

On Thursday, the Bears agreed to terms with former Lions defensive end Willie Young on a three-year contract and former Broncos, Giants and Panthers receiver Domenik Hixon on a one-year deal.

I think every Bear WR except for Bennett will be well over 6 feet next year.

They need to be given Cutler's accuracy.

I like the Hixon signing. He can return kicks & punts & also play some WR. He's a good inexpensive get. Young at $3 Mil per is good as well. The Bears are already better on both sides of the ball, due to both addition & subtraction.
I like the fact that Emery doesn't mess around, gets things done quickly & that he doesn't fall in love with veteran players & keep them around just because they are veteran Bears.
This upcoming training camp should be a lot of fun.

Yeah we get to watch a bunch of avg to below avg guys fight it out for starting spots. THis offense is going to need to drop 45 a game to avoid a losing record.

Good point. I was hoping that they would let Jay go. Instead they gave him A-Rod & Brady money. Stupid money for a middle of the pack mediocre QB.

The Cutler stuff isn't trolling. The guy is an average QB getting paid like a great one. He has a point. Many Bear fans realize this too.

Thanks for clarifying. It's been discussed though. At length. This is still trolling.

He's right about Cutler. I still cant believe the Bears gave him a $125 Million contract. Stupid.

Still a good chance they convert some of his money to a bonus. And Cutler, Eli and Big Ben are the top 3. Not an indication of being the best in the league. Simply an accounting effect.

One of these is not like the others. One of these is not the same.

Exactly. Still doesn't change the fact he's getting the money.

Cutler is paid standard money for a qb at his age, and with his skills. Not higher than the elite groups (total package, not yearly), and probably just below similarly talented backs who have rings. It's not a reflection on Cutler, it's just the standard rate for what he brings. Whatever.

I disagree. He is overpaid. He isn't that good. He's an average production QB.

Never said he was good or worth the money. The market reality is guys at his age with his (non materialized) talent get paid what he got paid. Numbers are high regardless because QBs impact the game more so than other positions. He would get paid like that anyway. Teams like Arizona and Jacksonville would give up half a billion to have a competent QB.

Chris Williams got $5M to show how NFL markets get warped. I fail to see how people cannot see how that would have affected Cutler. Not only that but bitch because this year was on purpose as they wanted to front load it to not have a Peppers thing again. Will they say he is a bargain in 3 years when he makes the 10th highest QB salary?

Not unless he suddenly becomes a top 10 QB, which is highly unlikely given how many years he's been in the league.

FF you are assuming players get paid in terms of their value. That doesn't happen as often as it should.
