And to add another wrinkle.... Maybe I am embellishing but I doubt the daughter was calmly saying she didnt know the person in her room. She probably heard her dad open the door and knew the jig was up and ran to him crying and screaming that someone was in her room. In that case I for sure open fire.

Pretty much impossible to prove though. So I guess what I mean lying is not something that will get her in legal trouble in this situation

Yeah, that doesnt sound likely at all.

Actually the whole "I dont know him" sounds like bullshit.

Of course it sounds like bullshit, because it is... The girl didnt want to get busted for having sex with some kid in her house. It makes perfect sense for us sitting here at our computer thinking rationally.

If your daughter is telling you she doesnt know this guy that is in her room in the middle of the night, do you think you are reacting with a level head in that moment?

Edit: We all tend to have a blind spot for our kids. To immediately think your daughter is lying in this situation would be really tough IMO.

No, Im saying the story they're telling sounds like bullshit.

I dont think any girl would react that way. (saying I dont know him. Who the fuck would do that?) Certainly not with someone she knows and knowing her trigger happy father.

I had a buddy this sort of happened to. Parents not supposed to be home for a while, they are on the couch fooling around. Parents walk in and the girl immediately shoved him off and said "Stop it!!" Guy ran out the back door in his boxers with the father in hot pursuit. You just dont think rationally in the moment...

That is not even close to pretending the person is a stranger

Jumping off the couch like nothing was going on makes sense. Saying I dont know this person, which indicates to her gun owning father that he's a dangerous criminal does not.

Ive had that happen. I know many people that have been in the situation you described and took off. I never ever heard of what this daughter supposedly did.

She's 16. I'm sure if she really did know him and is lying, there would have been some sort of texting or something going on. Maybe her friends saw her talking to him. If she really did not know him, different story. If she did know him prior to this little rendezvous, those facts will come out eventually.

No, that's not what Im referring to. The original lie might be provable. (Im certain it is).

Im saying no one can prove that she DIDNT actually say that before the shooting

And the lawyer has already checked in and said she probably wont be charged for what youre talking about.

The father, who was not identified, was notified by one of his children that there was someone in his 16-year-old daughter's room, the report said. He reportedly found his daughter in bed with the teen.

The confrontation occurred around 2:20 a.m. The father had a gun and asked the teen to identify himself, police said, according to the report. His daughter reportedly told her father that she did not know the teen and that the two were not in bed.

The father said he told the teen not to move, but reportedly saw the teen reach for something, at which point police say the father opened fire. The teen did not have a gun. His daughter later confessed that she did indeed know the teen, the report said.

They must live in bad area? Teenagers generally don't own guns.

No.

Its actually what you frequently bring up about people living post tragedy. Im thinking whoever told the father is gonna have some difficulty with their indirect involvement

Im assuming the person who told knew it was a boyfriend and not an actual intruder. If she legitametely thought it was an intruder that would change things.

There is more to this story

No other injuries were reported, but the father was transported to the hospital to be checked out for medical reasons as he complained that he was not feeling well.

Constables said the man appeared to be on several medications. Neighbors of the family were torn over the father's actions.

Also, did he find them IN bed?

If so, Id find the "daughter said she didnt know him" story even less believable

Not really...I can see a scenario where a rapist threatens to kill the girl's family if she lets out a scream, so she just takes it.

That's true.

Anyway, the story that she said she didnt know him just sounds like bullshit to me. Could be true, obviously.

I lean more toward the daughter throwing that line out there to save herself from her dad losing it on her in heat of the moment. If it went down like the story says, the daughter should be charged with something. Granted I have no idea what it should be exactly but this shouldn't go unpunished.

Terrible story

Some are saying the dad is disabled, too.

We'll probably never know the truth for sure

Gotta love guns!

The dad is guilty of murder.

The poor kid was invited into their house, then shot to death. Pretty straight forward to me.

We also don't know if similar occurrences had happened in the past or if the father was aware of his daughters extracurricular activities. That could change the context of the situation.

Can one of the lawers clarify if a minor can legally "invite" someone into their home? If someone was going to rob a house can they ask a 10 year old to come in and then only be charged with theft and not breaking and entering?

Of course not, I didnt say anything like that at all. If he came home at 3PM and they were watching a movie on the couch I dont think he pulls out his gun. Kid was in the home, without the father's knowledge, in the middle of the night, balls deep in his daughter . The person who invited him denied inviting him. That is a recipe for disaster, take the gun out of the equation and you could still have a very serious if not deadly assault.

"Legally" there's no way in hell he's done up for anything more than voluntary manslaughter.

That's probably the correct charge given the circumstances...unless there's more to the story (and there usually is).

If his daughter was being raped she likely would have screamed for help.. Instead she was probably moaning like a little slut and that pissed off the dad. Dad hears this, grabs the gun and kills the kid.

So much for guns protecting the family.. Now this family will be torn apart with the father (hopefully) in prison for a long time.

I can't believe anyone could think the father shouldn't be punished.
