This summer, I'm going to kidnap bigfan and take him to Summerfest, and we're going to watch DVDs of Kids in the Hall the whole way there. After his delicate sensibilities have been offended by seeing men dress up as women and make jokes, I will unleash him on the festival grounds (though I'll make sure he can't go far...) and watch the magic as he beholds all the big fat moo-cows in shorts that are too short, tank tops that are too tight, and all the jiggling cottage-cheese flesh their garments can't hope to contain. "HELP ! HELP !," he yells, as a chunker in a well-outgrown "SCONNIE" t-shirt from college shows off her Clay Matthews sleeve tat. "All these People are DISGUSTING ebcause of GIRLS!" Now, now, I'll assure him, the thing about Wisconsin girls is that they're all of that good Germanic stock, they'd be hot under all the beer guts. But there's no time to dawdle here at the concession stand: there was this one chick I saw back at admission, and you've GOTTA see her outfit at the Harley-Davidson stage! And so on we walk, all the while breathing in Summerfest's proprietary blend of beer, tobacco, weed, fried dough, piss, shit, and vomit. This is a world. A world wrought by Girls.

^^ 4:20 on St Paddy's day worthy.

Milwaukee's a germanic town as a result of all the big-swinging-dick Irishmen (contradiction, to be sure) leaving their wives at home and yachting it down to Chicago for some R&R back in 1860 and having the boat sink. After which aquatic catastrophe, the Germans moved in on the widowed Irish lasses and made Milwaukee famous:

I think most of it started with me going to whole foods and the girl who rang up my breakfast, very chunky (so be it) showed up, working the sleaveless blouse/shirt, bad tats on flabby arms, greasy/wet hair and smelled like a bottle of baby powder. IMO a 'complete mess" and yet, it seems to be OK that this happens. The Manager walks bye and asks if she wants any coffee from the coffee bar, etc.

Is it all (or any?) Lena dunhams fault? I dont know, maybe, but the many who have posted here sure seem to be aware of the many stories in various magazines.

I will just assume there is angle of how proud of herself she is. OK, I get it, make the girls feel good about themselves, confidence, etc. Hey, I helped my old GF here run "Girls on the Run" and thats what it is all about, but I just feel like the fine line has been Jumped over with self confidence and not caring what you look like. Please see 2 posts above mine as examples.

My wife worked at Whole Foods where that tattooed look is the "norm". They want young people who show off their individualism. Now my wife is at Costco. A girl she works with has tat's. She has been told to keep her arms covered.

I understand many here take many of my statements as absolutes and run with them (Curious Hair for example) but I actually think Dunham may have some talent. I mean she did a great job of creating a character loaded with personality traits of a female I would need to be away from within 20 seconds or as fast she can give me my change at Whole Foods, then again her creation of that character my arise from the same talent that allowed Jeremy Piven to play a great Ari Gold and that the character is them. It's like Vince Vaughn, he basically plays Vince Vaughn in every movie.

She should milk every second of her fame and bilk everyone who is willing to give her money and deals based on this creation of hers. More power to her. When is the show over?

Many of the guys -- daring individualists -- who work at the Whole Foods in Schaumburg have the tatted up look, wear the same style of clothes, the same little knit hats, etc.

It's just darling.

Not even a question. When they ask me "Would you like to round up to help the Whole Planet Fund?" I would like to know if I can buy the guy a new T shirt.

All jokes aside, I assume they give them some good deal there. 50% off food, decent pay, flex hours, allow nose rings at work, etc. Health insurance? Stock? 401K? because I don't think I have ever interacted with one of them that has ever been close to mean in anyway, stupid...yes, but not intentionally dumb.

Whoever or however they are trained is pretty good. All their small talk is safe. It could never raise an eyebrow. If they drop or mishandle something they get a new one but you never really wait. Their talking doesn't disrupt the line.

How long before you want to get away from me? Hope I'm not a 20 seconder:wink:

Lena Dunham Says She's "Nauseated" by Woody Allen

On Marc Maron's WTF podcast on Monday, Lena Dunham—unlike many in Hollywood—reiterated her support for Woody Allen's daughter Dylan Farrow: "In the latest Woody Allen debate I'm decidedly pro-Dylan Farrow and decidedly disgusted with Woody Allen's behavior."

And in quite possibly her ballsiest move yet, Dunham also announced that Allen's movies have gotten "really bad."

But while Dunham insists she's "nauseated" by Allen "the person," she said she doesn't understand why people are responding to the abuse allegations by looking at Allen's work:

But for me, when people go through his work and comb through it for references to child molestation, that's not the fucking point.
According to Dunham, she's not comfortable using art to "convict people of crimes":

I think that you can decide that you don't want to support the work of somebody who has molested a child. That's a completely appropriate choice. But going through it and saying, look, he's told us in 57 ways that he rapes kids — that's not the thing. The thing is to look at the actual evidence that exists in the world, which I think strongly suggests that Woody Allen is in the wrong. But for me the point is not to go through his one-act plays looking for references to child molestation. Because I'm not comfortable living in a world where art is part of how we convict people of crimes."
The 27-year-old actress then pointed out that it's possible to love Allen's films and still believe he's capable of molestation:

People who really believe Woody Allen is guilty have not felt comfortable saying that. Because they're so afraid to lose their connection to his work. And the thing is, I feel like people need to understand that you can hold two positions in your mind. You can know that someone's made work that's meaningful to you and also know that they have most likely molested their daughter… I was so unimpressed by people's inability to think in less binary ways and to just experience the ambiguity that life is constantly offering up.
Lest you think Dunham sounds reasonable and refreshing here and you feel yourself starting to like her, don't worry. She also shared how many photographs her mother has housed at the MoMA, admitted she uses her boyfriend's songs on Girls so they can both benefit financially, and talked a lot about barfing. Some things never change.

I think there are only a few more episodes left this season. I haven't heard whether it is being picked up
for another season or not. I thought we were going to see Brian Williams' daughter t0pless for a second
in the last episode but that didn't happen either... no big loss as there wouldn't be much to see. I'm not
sure why I torture myself with this show but at least I get to know what Big Fan's latest complaints are
referring to.

I know lotsa of people that are nauseated by Woody Allen, but they dont have 4 br home renderings tatooed on their back.

She'll never be t0pless on the show. Incidentally, did you see her fiance? He's the guy who started CollegeHumor, because of course he is; Allison Williams won't settle for just anyone. What's creepy is that he really looks like her brother:

Oh agreed completely. Pretty sure that is in her contract. We have gotten close a few times but it
won't happen which is fine with me really.

Of course it's in her contract. That's a funny censor, by the way, with the 0. I didn't remember typing it that way!

Allison Williams doesn't give up the goods for anyone less than the CEO of CollegeHumor.

See, everyone here's hatin' on poor Lena Dunham, but man, the other girl in that picture is like the platonic form of every terminally bitchy daddy's girl I ever knew who was too good for me. Man, if you're going to irrationally hate a television actress, hate her.
