Absolutely. NCAA basketball in the 1980's is fascinating as hell.

I never thought I'd hear Ed Pinckney described as fascinating.

Got this DVR'd. Glad to hear it's good.

So I wanted to read up on this commissioner...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tranghese

Michael "Mike" Tranghese was the commissioner of the Big East Conference and helped create the conference as founder Dave Gavitt's right-hand man in 1979.

Tranghese, known for his calm demeanor on the podium, is just as well known in golf circles for that same calm demeanor on the golf course, where he is an avid and most respected golfer. His putting skill along with being a noted ball striker, are put on display many a dewy Saturday or Sunday morning, and still provoke fond memories of '92, when he was crowned a victorious club champ.

Much like his dominating conference of the late 2000s and early 2010s, Tranghese would systemically and surgically dominate his opponents through gumption and skill on the course.

A most memorable occurrence came in late summer of 2009, when Tranghese wore the glass slipper, hopped in the pumpkin car ride home, and fell just short of parking it in his driveway. In a split second, everything turned back to normal and the clock struck midnight on Cinderella.

The upset-minded Tranghese, lurking like a killer shark in a dangerous position in the club championship bracket, almost took down a young, up and coming giant, in one, Richard “Aut Man” Audette. This match was truly one scripted for Hollywood. Audette, of course, found his infamy in 2001, where, barely able to carry his own bag from his fathers car {he couldn’t drive yet, apparently only 11 months old at the time of the match (his own words)}, took down legends of the masterfully crafted Donald Ross gem on Narragansett Bay, including Paul “Doozer” Schwab, Darren Corrente and Paul Quigley all of whom have plenty of gold paint written on the wall of the Metacomet Grille.

It was a back and forth affair for much of the morning and into the early afternoon until “T” took a one up lead going into the final hole, a downhill par 4 with a soggy fairway and back to front sloping green. After both second shots, it looked as though putting out and shaking hands was all but a formality. Tranghese, a master craftsman of up-and-downs, was in a simple spot on the fringe, and the par was all but conceded. Audette on the other hand, was in a lackluster position, in the front portion of the green, having to go through two valleys and 20 feet of break to drop in the birdie and keep the match going.

Unfortunately for Tranghese, Audette did just that, draining a once-in-a-lifetime putt to keep the match going. A depleted man, Tranghese strolled down the first fairway after hitting the second shot, only to see Audette stick it five feet from the pin, to tap in for his birdie and his victory.

Tranghese retired as commissioner in the spring of 2009. John Marinatto succeeded him as commissioner. [1]

I love the internet.

 so you got John Thompson early in the show saying he used the Big East to get rich and that he was very clear with people he wanted to win games and get rich. And towards the end of the show you got Thompson whining that the Big East fell apart because of greedy people wanting more and more money

Really enjoyed this show, especially the inside look at the conference in the mid 80s when it was rolling.

Also loved seeing MJ take away a National Title from Ewing in a preview of both of their careers.

1st one huh? I guess it's safe to evaluate your (lack of) game now. :P

But, I'll give you credit....I still wish Michael Graham would/could have stuck around to win another title there.
