I have to believe that I was the first and loudest person calling for his hiring. I like his weekend morning shows at SNR.

I would in no way call this pairing a failure. It's good radio.

I'm disappointed by his dedication to his craft. Dropping Hit and Run was inexcusable. I also wish he could drop his defenses and just be one of the guys but I know some people just are not wired that way.

Never heard him before. I had a good feelings about it due to the number of people that were optimistic about this pairing. They were quickly squashed and made me think some of you are radio crazy.

I'm the minority. I like Spiegs. If Mac goes somewhere else I'll still listen to his show. Unless he gets paired with Leary that is.

If he didn't suck so much people wouldn't have to (radio) hate him. He sucks. Bad. Real. Bad.

I think the hate comes from the fact that he seems like a giant douche.

Waddle and Silvy suck, so people just ignore them, not hate on them.

I don't remember him much from back in the day. I think I was living out of state at the time. When Mac hired him, I was puzzled, but willing to give him a chance. It became clear early on that he was insecure and pissy. Big turnoff.

I guess if he came to this board and dealt several hands of "fuck you" cards you all would start to like him. Not unlike Mac he has his flaws, at least he comes to work (when he does) ready to work and having done his homework, and he has genuine passion for the job. He could troll, he could do it from home, he could be an uber asshole.

There's good info here and good criticism. Mac knows how to dive in and mix it up. Take it and give it back.

Don't post here if you want because you don't have time or aren't interested but don't say it's because it's too hateful. I don't think it's even been that bad for him.

I was a fan in his first tour @ the Score, I enjoyed his Sporting News work & I like him now. I just find it hilarious that so many here find his personality overly sensitive, feminine, prissy and grating. Many pots, meet kettle. Frankly, you also just accurately described many of the same radio hosts(personalities) some of you claim to love.

So much of his criticism around here always seems so petty, juvenile & tinged with jealousy. So what, he has a life, doesn't particularly like/respect Matt, takes days off to have fun from time to time and can at times be prickly. Who doesn't?

looks like its about 50/50 and I think that's a W for Spiegel. Some say getting 50% to hate and 50% to like is the objective. Of course this is usually stated by someone who is widely hated and I would disagree with anyone who says it as a self defense statement. The objective is to get people to listen. Personally I don't hate Leary, I just think he is terrible at radio and I dont listen because of it.
