I kind of think maybe so. Just when you see the reactions of Clark, Ernie or Greg with some of the things he says. It's uncomfortable TV sometimes. Which I don't mind. I laugh at them being uncomfortable. I think TNT is cool with it on late nights. But I'm not so sure the suits at CBS like it for their NCAA tourney.

Everybody praises Barkley for being outspoken. I don't think saying stupid stuff means your outspoken.

Plus if you ever notice with him, he repeats himself a lot. He'll say something and then just say it again. Then say it again. Then it's Clark's turn to talk.

I think they might yank him off next year's tourney.

Chuck can do no wrong.

He's funny sometimes. But he doesn't really know college basketball and often his attempts at "Funny" just turn out to be "stupid". I don't know college basketball and he can't even fake it for me. Just imagined what informed fans think of him?

I'm just trying to think like the suits at CBS. Do they really need Chuck for people to watch the tourney? No. Of course not. Ratings will be the same with or without him.

No. He gets ratings. And Emmys.

And he makes them money. You think Greg Anthony would be in a State Farm commercial if Charles wasn't there?

Edit...I mean Capital One.

No, but he really needs a college basketball cheat sheet. You'd think CBS would have someone to teach him and give him talking points.

No. Plus, I'm sure they all get sick of each other. It doesn't matter what they like. Charles is a big name that the general public loves. That's all that matters.

He's there for entertainment, not knowledge. I think most people involved aren't really offended by his stupidity. They find him more entertaining that way.

His commercials don't make money for CBS - his employer. They make money for Barkley and I guess Capital One thinks Barkley makes them money, obviously. But CBS sells those spots to Capital One. True, he gets those commercials because he's doing the tourney, but what CBS charges for those spots won't change if somebody else is doing them. I'm telling you.

I would think he'd want to come off more informed on the biggest stage he'll be broadcasting for this year.

I was answering your point about Ernie, Kenny, or Greg turning their head at Chuck as if they don't enjoy him.....my point was that they do.

Ernie is fine with him. I think Greg and Clark hate him. Especially Clark. I totally get that vibe.

Yeah, I'm not sure about CBS, but that part really isn't debatable.

When I initially said Greg, I meant Gumble. Not Anthony, by the way.

So I agree with you, Spmack, about Barkley getting Greg Anthony that commercial.

By the way, Barkley doesn't age. Yeah, he got fat, but facially he looks the same as he did in his last year in the NBA.

For example: That stupid exchange between Chuck and Clark right now about the Wichita St. bracket. Bad. Stupid. Pointless. I think the producers told Chuck to take that side against Clark. Barkley sounded like a bad actor in making his case.

Why isn't Clark doing color analyses? I miss him in that role.

Just needling him. I agree with most everyone else here - Charles is most likely a net positive for cbs, despite questions about his performance. I also think the characteristic beardown analysis of the personalities' feelings toward one another is irrelevant to the question of whether or not he deserves or brings value to the spot he currently holds.
