In this episode of "Jewish Radio Guy Uses Cliches", our very own Dan Bernstein critiques the offensive gameplans of two of the greatest coaches in history and then uses their losses to paint them as bad people. Nothing new, really...

I hate undeserved anointing of coaches. By the way, you think they'll talk about Thibodeau this week?

You should really take the lead of "most college basketball fans" and ignore the NBA.

I'm sorry you are offended I don't watch the NBA any more.

If we are using Bernstein logic.

I'm not offended. Why would I give a shit what you watch? I'm just trying to help you out. Trying to imply Thibs is not a great coach makes you look stupid.

You clearly are. That is why you brought it up in a completely separate thread.

In case you don't get it, this is about Bernstein hating on Boeheim and Coach K while constantly talking about how great Thibs is. Maybe we should compare resumes between the three of them to see who deserves being "anointed" a coaching legend.

I brought it up because it's funny that you said most college basketball fans ignore the NBA, yet you seem almost incapable of discussing college basketball without comparing it in some way to the NBA.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is some truth to this.

Yeah, you seem upset.

I explained the relevance here. If you think Thibs has proven to be a great coach I won't argue. If you don't think Coach K and Boeheim wouldn't also qualify then I will certainly argue.

I get it. It was a desperate, flawed analogy on your part. Thibs only lost a playoff series one time when his team was favored to win, a couple years ago against the 76ers, and his two best players got hurt in that series.

I'm not upset. I don't know why you think that. I already pointed out the amusing irony of your thoughts on college basketball and the NBA.

 What?

So Thibs is great because he was expected to lose all but one time?

Again, the point here is the Boeheim has a title, and a pretty awesome career record. Coach K has multiple titles, and a pretty awesome career record. If that doesn't make you great, then Thibs isn't great either.

But no one is suggesting Thibodeau is less than a good coach. bernstein is grinding an axe against Coach K for "running a ton of stuff", the very thing he lauds Thibodeau for doing. In bernstein's world Krzyzewski should have just told everyone else to get out of the way and let Parker do whatever he wanted. He's criticizing K for "coaching" 18 year olds and cheering Thibs for "coaching" ten year NBA veterans. Don't you see the hypocrisy?

We're all aware of this, after a near infinite number of attempts to test the theory.

FYI Seacrest still doesn't believe it and has taken numerous shots at our methodology.

Obtuse Rick is really the worst kind of Rick.

Those guys are great college coaches. They aren't comparable to NBA coaches though, which is my point. A college coach's job and an NBA coach's job are immensely different. Thibs defensive system is certainly far more effective and complex than a 1-3-1 zone. I'm pretty certain he's a better pure coach than Boeheim is. Boeheim would probably be a better recruiter. He seems to always have great players. They are just different jobs.

Of course you have a right to. I'm not sure where that comes from. I'll say it again since you're in obtuse mode - I find it funny that you claim most college basketball fans ignore the NBA, yet you constantly bring up the NBA when discussing it. That really is all.

No. There is nothing in the NBA that is more complex than the college game except the player contracts.

why is Bernstein always referred to as a "Jewish" guy? WTF does that have to do with anything unless we are talking about his numerous days off or hatred of Christianity?

Yeah, Bernstein is an idiot. Trying to mimick his logic on the NBA had Rick sounding like an idiot. It's not a good idea to think like Bernstein thinks.

I have heard people other than Bernsie criticize K for not utilizing Parker enough throughout the season. I don't watch much college basketball so unlike Bernsie I'm not going to pretend to know if that's valid or not.

How does Dan reconcile the tournament being better without K and Boeheim with his long-held stance that the tournament is better without upsets?

The tournament WAS better without upsets, until it wasn't, at which point it never was.
