Yeah, Bernstein is an idiot. Trying to mimick his logic on the NBA had Rick sounding like an idiot. It's not a good idea to think like Bernstein thinks.

I have heard people other than Bernsie criticize K for not utilizing Parker enough throughout the season. I don't watch much college basketball so unlike Bernsie I'm not going to pretend to know if that's valid or not.

I really don't think bernstein could coach Duke to a better record than Krzyzewski.

And I believe I understand BRick's obtuse mode as well as anyone and this isn't it. He's merely pointing out how ridiculous bernstein's festishization of Thibodeaux is, especially when juxtaposed against his contempt for K and Boeheim.

The tournament WAS better without upsets, until it wasn't, at which point it never was.

 Now that's right on the money!

Of course you have a right to. I'm not sure where that comes from. I'll say it again since you're in obtuse mode - I find it funny that you claim most college basketball fans ignore the NBA, yet you constantly bring up the NBA when discussing it. That really is all.
It seems to have cut you deep that I said that.

Anyways, and maybe you don't understand it, but most of my posts that mentioned the NBA today were simply mocking Bernstein and then when you got all riled up from it, you.

Do you print out my posts on college basketball and the NBA for quick reference?

FavreFan likes to call me obtuse when he doesn't understand my posts. It's pretty ironic. Then, I explain it to him, and he says he was making a completely different point instead of just saying what a normal person would say which is "Oh, I misunderstood, you weren't bashing Thibs.".

I'm not sure why you think I'm the one getting upset. Only one of us is capable of enjoying college basketball without constantly comparing it to the NBA, and it's not you. Which, once again, I find funny. There's literally nothing I've posted that should lead you to think I'm upset, unless simply quoting a response and replying is a sign of being upset. In that case, you're the angriest poster on this board daily.

I didn't misunderstand anything though. The point you were trying to make is not a valid one. It's not an apples to apples comparison. What is ironic is that you don't understand that.

If it makes you feel better to think I'm somehow obsessed with the NBA then go ahead.

We could have saved a lot of time if you had said that originally. If you don't think we can compare accomplishments between the two leagues then that is fine.

The problem is you reacted like I wasn't saying Thibs wasn't a good coach and then seemingly went after me and my viewing habits. Next time, get to your valid point quicker.

One of the first things I said was that it was a bad analogy. You are completely ignoring the talent level each coach is working with comparable to their peers. Next time just agree with me quicker.

Bernstein is in Rick's head, and it's a tight fit.

I despise both Coach K and Boeheim, but Dan's ability to use a dozen words to express a half-dozen words' worth of thought continues to impress.

Quote:
He could easily choose to avoid the ultra-talented one-year stars in favor of those eventual “men” who will play three or four seasons in Durham, or at least make sure that those just stopping by on the way to the NBA would have significant upperclass support on the floor at key spots during important times.

I mean, everything to the right of the comma is just stupefying.

He's right, though.

K can structure any kind of team he wants with pretty much anybody. He chose a bunch of young dudes he thought he could win with and he failed.

Pretend for a second that Managing Editor Adam Hog actually has the authority to edit. Does he notice?

Ninja'd by Zizou: I don't know how any right-thinking person could read "at key spots during important times" without retching. Are these also crucial moments, critical stretches, and big minutes?

The whole article is right. Dan still writes like the sophomore opinion columnist for a college newspaper.
