so as THE GREAT OLD/WHITE HOPE CAPALDI takes the reigns (and keep in mind, he used to write into the daily spy/telegraph/mirror and/or radio&times talking about his missadventures in creating a homemade/DIY dalek our of housebound parts) and as such many of us are hopinjg an old ~55-60/+ year doctor as opposed to the status quo since 10ant showed up on the screen and truly made the doctor memetic, a tradition carried on by hipsterpants/11.

you know, for all of that zant LOLOLOMSG SUPAR ACTION HERO!!!! stuff that 10/11 gave us, a more reserved close-to-the-vest doctor would be a thing. and remember the day of the doctor established canon that 10.5 counted as a regen/rose-compilation-prize and so on the so forth, the part where dr who proper gave 10.5 seeds to grow a new tardid was srrapped and etc.

so clara wants him to "TrY and be HER doctor" and all that, while by all accounts he's at least initially unstable and etc etc (herarkening back to the early days of #6.... take chat peri!!!! that is, unless he was ahead of the trend on autoasphixyotic (sp) masturbation or whatever (cuz call it a hunch that prei and her low-cut boob-displauys led many a theory as to how she goes and etc etc..."

well let's say hero coworker/BF ends up being a dalek/zylon/etc plant masterfully interested into the tardis to collect info (and 12/capaldi doesnt randomly develop another superpower of supersmell al a the ones that hipsterpants and ESPECIALLY 10ant came up with at will (see giant dbz-ripoff SPIRIT BOMB!" here to end se3.

he realizes that the doctor is now at regen #13 and the valeyard was upposed to be either regen '#13 to #500 or whatever and totally apes his style... hangs around, does some "Watcher" stuff to hearken back to the 5/6 tradition at hte caves of androzani or whaevver 5's regen story was..... yet instead of siphoning off the rest of the doctor's regens to makle his own, he gets a few of the next 12-13 and is able to establish himself as a separate chacter.... and one from the doctor's possible future that indeed knows a lot of what once-happened-but-has-now-chanced so he has like 77% of a leg up on the doctor, and while the doctor wants to somehow bring gallifrey back quietly without starting a new time war (survivor's guilt) the valeyard is opposed to that because his anomaly ass can be dealt with by the ancienty race with the shitty headgear. and the season arc is doctor vs valeyard? interesting.

or maybe the season focuses on bringing gallifrery back, as an old #4 at the museum told me that maybe, jkust maybe, while the last 50 years of the ride we took are relevant as they're what the doctor remembers being at the center of the event horizon..... however as the fact that 4/baker was an old man curating a museum, maybe in the show universe everything is differnet; adric lives! some enemies weren't defeated! 4 doesnt die at logopolis and lives on to a nice old ripe age where he gets to be a curator at the museum to remember his future self.... and now any one from the past is liable to show up because technically the show's past got blown up completely and is now 100% different, even tho wat we saw was indeed totally relevant as it happened as the doctor lived it and as such everything is completely different now and once agian the doctor is out there exploring a unierse that technically inst the one he saved 6 billion times but..... something else. something new and amazing and able to shock you because now anyone non-IRL-deceased but deceased on the show can show up and be like WHADDAP/1!?! opeining up a whlole new can of worms for the doctor.

so yeah we're likely to get more rank and file timelords occasionally (who is the corsair? cuz moffat boasted hedding into the 50s tht he was going to set up the show for the next 50 years, and what better way to do tht than to hav ethe entire show unierese drastically/change around the doctor, who now has to stop being mr. know it all and start being mr. explorer feeling his way thought a blind orgy all temporal style. that's my hope man.... if it' slagged off as a coincidence and we get more HELLO SWEETIE stuff i might throw a rock through my tv and declare myself "moffucked again because there;s just so much damn potential with the "Everything in the past is new again, but only tyou dont remember it doctor because the moment shielded it from you)

thats what i wanna see. go meta 4th/wall with the capaldi leaving stuff and re-introduce the valeyard up to no good, have a big plot point of gallifrey trting to escape back into our real universe, and for the lofe of god just take some classic stuff and twist it around in a vieritable "what if?" format since that's what i read tom @museum meant. he didnt die @ logopolisl he went on to live a long life and rah rah rah. 10/11 remember the chaange, thats it, but the rest operate under the new timeline and doctor who isnt alonje as being the last timelord (waaaahhhh) as muchas he is alone in remembering what actually happened, altho only from his/our perspectoves

i saw give us tht... otherwise droll monster of the week fodder with some storyline that gives us a (new?) master, yippie.... or can those clerics with the omega patch be a sect of clerics who follow their god omega, who got the kovarian sect so split off amd blow up 11's tardis to ceate cracks in the universe that galifrey could escdape into;?

the possibilities are endless, and moffat did gleefully say he was with glee: he set the show up for the next 50 years. so what better way to do that than to take the lonely god, strip him of his de-facto omniscience, and then plop him in a bonkers world radically changed since preventing the derstruction of gallifrey and then that;s a whole differnet big giant problem, esp when you figure it's been omega's plan going back to that priest army in the first weeping angels 2 parter... what if their SILENCE WILL FALL! evil voice was omega locked away in a veritably-ethereal plane saying this setting things in motion to create cracks in the universe so he could force his way through, and gallifrey picked up on that and aimed to follow through. or wht if gallifrey tainted the next 12-13 regen cycle the giant orange crack in she sky gave hipsterpants? to what ends would they do this?

so many possibilities here that count end up being brilliant, so because if's moffat i fully expect capaldi to die in series 9 episode 1 and then we spend the rest of it getting emo like ""HOW ARE WE GONNA SAVE HIM?!?" complete withj little carrots dangled in front of our face every episode cuz without those, why would we watch any standalone dr who episdoes? cus they're good? JAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAJ comeon moffat you know better.... tho, as always, we hope for the best......

....before we end up moffucked!

</rantzillaq> --- blame the coronoa fimiliar... i needed the boost tonight. gg2bed. hasta

Bring back Colin Baker and have him be the Valeyard (or brickyard, or whatever kind of yard he is)

Good first episode, too bad JLC is a rock that will weigh Capaldi down all season. Haven't had a good companion since Donna, unless you count Rory I guess. Hot female lizard on female human kiss.

i definitely dug the episode...especially the opening. very funny stuff. i don't know what the usual gripe for moffat is but if i were to pin point it, it's that he gets a little sitcommy with the humor sometimes and while dr. who needs humor...sometimes it just seems canned or otherwise unnecessary. capaldi was a bit hammed up at first, and i didn't know whether i'd like him.

by the restaurant scene at mancini's, i started to get used to him and by the end i was hooked. i look forward to his character. here's what i don't get though...he's scottish and gets to be scottish. why did tennant miss out on this? hm.

i didn't care for the "i'm not your boyfriend" line but i liked when he told clara to look at him for him. that was nice. capaldi is a very good actor.

The first episode's kinda goofy because the Doctor always has a scrambled brain right after the regeneration. We'll know what we're dealing with by the third episode (if we're lucky)

i'm enjoying this season so far but "listen" had to be one of the most nauseating episodes that was saved by the ending...moffat really gets on my nerves sometimes with his writing style but this one turned out to be saved by the last 5 minutes.

capaldi definitely deserves a longer run than 1 season but clara has to go. time for his own companion now. and i think it should be an older woman, close to his age.

Really good episode tonight as part 1 of the season finale...Cybermen return in a unique way, Danny might die, and Missy turns out to be the Master. Looking forward to part 2!

I was wondering just how many belief systems they were going to mess with, this episode. I had Missy pegged as the Rani, and that obviously went out the window. On the other hand, she still has John Simm's sense of off-the-cuff insanity.

this has been a pretty up and down season. but when the episode hasn't been good it's been terrible. saturday's episode was ok but clara has overstayed her welcome far too long now. i am pretty sure they won't bring her back for another year or anything but she's just past her place...for some time now.

Eventually they will have to explain her appearance in "Asylum of the Daleks", but any shortcomings her character has has been covered up by the excellent acting of Capaldi. He had me in "Deep Breath" with his first interaction with Strax. I have enjoyed this season and pleasantly surprised by Capaldi; I'm sure the next season will be even better.
