When news broke that the Bears had made a withdrawal from the "bank of Cutler," he and Terry speculated the money could be intended for a backup QB, which led to their oft-repeated insistence that the reason Emery didn't want McCown around was mainly because of meatball fans who created a bogus QB controversy. Yeah, Emery wouldn't want to re-sign a guy who exceeded every expectation because it might make his $120 million man nervous. What a joke.

This is the same show that tells us that smart executives don't listen (or care) what fans think, yet, they were not bringing McCown back because they do care what fans think.

Of course, both Boers and Bernstein both claim to have independent sources telling them this as well, which is also entertaining.

The reality is that McCown got a starting opportunity elsewhere, and got paid more than the Bears could afford to allocate to that position. I'm going to go with that as my reason, and not some made up source with a ridiculous theory.

Bernstein's source, "who has never been wrong," appears to be wrong on Shaka Smart signing with Marquette. It's funny because Dan initially said he could not find a reputable source to substantiate the rumors that were flooding twitter, but then when it seemed he was afraid he'd be the last one to know, he gets the timely e-mail/text from his impeccable source telling him it's basically a done deal and they just have to dot the i's and cross the t's. Yeah....

Why does that shit even matter? Who the fuck in Illinois cares what Shaka Smart is doing? Does anyone tune in to B&B to hear what's going on in the college hoops hot stove league? This is a long way of asking why Dan needs to source/break a story few people care about in the first place.

Short answer - Dan knows he has become a shock jock and likes to pretend to be a journalist every once in awhile so he can feel better about himself and convince himself that he isn't the sports radio version of Mancow. Well, in spite of B&b's clear hostility toward college hoops, there are still plenty of fans of NCAA athletics that listen to the show. Beyond that, there are a large number of Marquette grads in the Chicago area. I just find it amazing that a guy who has such contempt for college sports suddenly has a trusted source who covers them. There is much less surprise when said "source" turns out to be wrong.

He not only has 'a' trusted source, he said he has many across college basketball, just not one in the Milwaukee area (unless that has suddenly changed) unless that suddenly changed.

i found this funny that he tweeted about it. I've seen more posts/status'/tweets about David Brockie in 3 days than i've seen the rest of my internet experience. 3 months ago, he's of called gwar a horrible band who makes horrible music. now the universe has a hole in its heart.

No, Dan has always appreciated the humor behind Gwar. They've come up several times. I remember one time he directed listeners to Gwar doing a cover of some song on The AV Club.
