Who's the asshole who has two thumbs and picked the Ottawa Senators to go to the Stanley Cup Final?

_> ^.^ <_

this guy!

Yeah, whoops, in spite of elite talent and coaching, the Sennies are a dumpster fire. Probably has to do with Craig Anderson getting hurt and/or remembering he's Craig Anderson and sucks. Robin Lehner hasn't been any damn good, either. Bobby Ryan, left off Team USA because Brian Burke said he couldn't spell 'intense,' is most intensely out for the year. This whole trade fucking sucks for us, because Anaheim gets Ottawa's first-round pick this summer, which will be in at least the top 10 and will surely yield yet another really good player for the shitty annoying Ducks.

Erik Karlsson is the frontrunner for the Norris this year because fuck it, he's on a Canadian team, that's why. Like I said in another thread, the voters will have to talk themselves out of voting for Karlsson or Subban before Keith can win it (and last night certainly isn't helping). As far as Canadian homer Norris voting goes, don't rule out the possibility that they vote for the Boston Bruins -- not Chara, not all their d-men, just all the Boston Bruins -- to win the Norris because oh god such defensive tenacity, what teamwork, so harmonious, much grinding. Canada as a whole has a weird boner for the Bruins: they carved out lots of allegiances in the Original Six days, Don Cherry coached there, they claim pretty much all the Maritimes with the Nordiques gone (the Maritimes are basically New England), and they're the sworn enemy of the Canadiens, themselves the sworn enemy of the ROC. So yeah, watch out for that. But in all seriousness, watch out for Karlsson. He's the best offensive defenseman in the world, and he's also indestructible. Not crazy about the rest of their corps. Chris Phillips is old, and Marc Methot has eternal Blue Jacket stank. They're not great on the kill and lead the league in times shorthanded, so make them pay.

In spite of (or because of) Karlsson's offensive prowess, the Sénateurs will gladly let you shoot on them and let you score on them. Thing is, you gotta bury them and never stop piling the dirt on, because I swear, every single time I put a Sens game on, they're tying the game with five seconds left.

Kinda bums me out that Ottawa hiccuped this year. I've had a soft spot for them since their 2003 Hossa/Havlat/Alfredsson/Chara/Fisher/Redden/Spezza/Lalime mega-team that by rights should have won the Stanley Cup but spit the bit in Game 7 with a New Jersey team no one remembers (to say nothing of the 2007 team that did make the Final but lost to the Ducks). They still have a lot of talent on the roster, I'm pretty sure, and I believe they still have a pretty loaded pipeline. They'll get there one day.

For the geographically disinclined, Ottawa lies on the border of Ontario and Quebec (Gatineau-Hull being their francophone twin city of sorts), so you'll hear a bunch of French over the public address tonight, plus a Franglais national anthem.

Hawks: 42-16-15 (99), 37-24-13 adjusted (87), 94.981 expected
Sens: 29-29-14 (72), 25-36-11 adjusted (61), 59.508 expected

Hawks: 3.230 scored (1st), 2.473 allowed (9th), 0.757 differential (3rd)
Sens: 2.792 scored (11th), 3.278 allowed (29th), -0.486 differential (26th)

Hawks: 48/236 20.3% on the power play (6th), 189/231 81.8% on the kill (16th)
Sens: 44/239 18.4% on the power play (14th), 230/287 80.1% on the kill (24th)

Once again, I won't be able to watch :( -fuck YOU, Best Western, so I guess I'll listen online.

In reading all this season's CH curtain-jerkers did it only hit me tonight that not only are the Hawks up to 16th on the kill, they're SIXTH in the league on the power play? How has that not registered up to this point? Having said that, I'll gladly take last season's overall production and crappy PP at this point.

Hate early ones against too.

They had just scored the first goal that's what the mf was for. I love Hockey Gay.

Yeah they sure don't look too dangerous offensively all of the sudden. Gonna need 4 in 1 and a half periods to pull this one out . Not looking good.

I am really disappointed to return home and learning more and more of this bad streak. If they don't win in Pittsburgh sunday there is going to be a dead Pittmike being tossed about by a stadium full of Pens fans.

What did they scratch Teravainen against a defensively shaky team and scratch a college player against Boston? How backward.

I was in the Bahamas all week at Atlantis. They have a sports book, and I lost on the Hawks vs Bruins. Boy Hawks looked bad...
