I had no idea who he was.

Me neither.

I've never been to a club that plays house music and wouldn't know what station to turn to if I wanted to hear it on the radio, but would often see bills/signs/whatever posted on street light poles, L platforms, or on walls in the city promoting his shows. IIRC they were kind of hard to miss in the 80s and 90s. I worked at men's clothing store in Ford City in the late 80s and if someone put on a station that played dance music (WGCI?...maybe I would know what station) I think I'd occasionally hear commercials promoting him.

What did they say exactly?

that whoever comes out of the West will beat the Heat.

Just suddenly, this comes out of nowhere. What "expert" did they talk to over the weekend that clued them into this?

They also mentioned that there would be many "heroic" efforts by Lebron but that they would not be enough. Seriously, this was out of nowhere.

I mentioned this yesterday that Bernsie said it. You did not have to have a crystal ball to see that back track coming.

It sounds like they at least graduated from the completely ridiculous and insufferable "LeBron's team will win the title because of LeBron" basketball talk.

Of course the Heat can win the title, but they probably won't.

And it's because of Wade. He's just so undependable at this stage of his career.

That's part of it. It's dangerous to build a team of all shooters, no bigs, and relying on LeBron and Wade(who's athleticism has significantly declined) to protect the rim.

The Heat thing is completely transparent. It's the same heads-I-win/tails-you-lose logic they've been using to insulate LeBron since the 2011 Finals. If Miami wins the title, it's because of LeBron's ability to triumph against impossible odds. If they lose, it's because circumstances conspired against him.

Conversely, the Blackhawks are always going to win the Stanley Cup, until they don't, in which case lol at the Blackhawks for not winning the Stanley Cup.

Dan in particular used to do this with the pre-Theo Cubs every year.

The way he talked about the 2004 Cubs team was an absolute joke. If you didn't believe they were the easy favorite to come out of the national league then you were an idiot.

Terry had Prior winning 28 games. 28 games!

In 2007 or 2008 he declared the beginning of a "Cubs hēgemōn" over the Central Division, which eventually turned out to be the Cardinals'. Why do I even care?

Because it makes it pretty clear that danny is really a huge Cubs fan who always tries to see the team in the most favorable light no matter what. This Cub love didn't start with Theo. It's just that Theo is now the focus because there are no Priors or KerryWoodWhenhealthys to jizz over.

Why are people so concerned about where Dan's allegiances lie? I thought it was apparent that he doesn't even like sports to begin with.

I do not know exactly how he leans on the other local team with certainty but he has admitted the Bears are the only thing he gets absolutely meatball about when watching his games. I have not seen if this has leaked into twitter during games if he allows that.

It leaked on the air today. He was all over the Bears knob.

I would say he loves the Bears/Bulls/Sox, likes the Cubs a little but hates their dopey goy fans, and would prefer never to be bothered with the Blackhawks again in his life.

He makes fun of White Sox fans more than any other Chicago fan base.

What makes you think he loves the Bulls?

I don't think he loves the Bulls. I think he loves basketball. It's probably the sport he's most passionate about even if he discusses it like a retard.

Hawks love comes out begrudgingly when he takes the family to a game and gets to talk about what a nice, sanitized experience it was.

What makes you think he loves the Bulls?

Are you serious here?

Absolutely. He talks about them like he can't stand them. When they lose, they're a bad a team and were exposed. When they win, it doesn't matter and the other team obviously wasn't trying and was annoyed that the Bulls would have the audacity to try to win a regular season game. Like Powerhouse said, I have no doubt he loves basketball, but he sure doesn't seem like a Bulls fan.

Big fan of their management though. They'd be closer to a championship if Derrick Rose wasn't taking up so much cap space. Really tough on Gar and Uncle Jerry to deal with such limitations.

I don't know either, but it at least makes more sense than the obsession with Dan's self-reported height or athletic ability.

it makes some sense to draw the conclusion that if you have a probably bad team and the product comparatively speaking is more expensive than it has been in the past when they were good. but the reality is that Dan WAS right, he was just awful at explaining it. when you have one of the smallest venues and one of the largest fan bases, demand dictates the higher prices. its that simple. and i dont' think we even are the highest price!

Personally, I like to know whether I'm listening to a genuine guy or a phony character. Just like it matters to me if Dre was dancing around in a dress when he was claiming to be slinging dope and shooting people.

that's altogether true, but last season it was a coronation. So there has been a sea change.

For me, I still see the Heat winning it barring further injury.
