Can they just award third place in the division to the winner of the game?

Theo would be pissed. Not part of the plan. Lose 100 games in the 3rd largest market in the country for six years in a row and then spend some money is a fool-proof plan.

It could be worse. Svuem or Quade could still be managing.

On the brightside, got to witness the infamous "shirtless 16th inning stretch" at PNC Park.

I'm not trolling here, I promise, but that's not part of the plan. The Cubs have to save that extra year of ML service time, apparently. That's why I think there's legitimate criticism to be had towards Theo. If there wasn't, then Baez would've been in the lineup today.

No, I think Baez needs work in normal circumstances.

But, compared to this team, he's not going to hurt anything.

At this point, they don't have the luxury to worry about service time.

Nothing wrong with him getting a taste of AAA. They're not winning shit this year anyway.

So playing in AAA is more normal than playing in the ML? I don't buy that.

I'm certain it's more normal to him given his experience.

But I'm all for bringing him up.

I'm not even sure how to respond to that. It feels like you're agreeing and disagreeing with me. Get out of the Joe Biden character for this.

And what if he struggles and gets overwhelmed and starts striking out like a mother fucker?

On that basis, I agree with having him proving he can dominate at AAA and make him earn the promotion. He spent half the year last year at Daytona. Let him learn how these fringe major league AAA arms will try to work him and let him bash away and build confidence. Further, let him refine his play defensively.

He'll be here soon enough. Let the kid grow and mature in the cornfields of Iowa.

I'm saying playing for the Des Moines Cubs is going to feel more normal for him coming from the Tennessee Smokies as opposed to playing in Yankee Stadium. And a typical ML team could allow him to take that time and not waste ML ABs.

But this offense is so anemic that there's no harm in learning those lessons here. So, bring him up.

And to hell with Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Baez needs to work on his approach at the plate. If he isn't willing to be patient and take walks then his career won't be a great one.
