I had a kidney removed years ago and tested positive for MRSA when I first arrived at the hospital. Anyone entering my room had to wear the hazmat-type gear head-to-toe. Never received a bill from the hospital for what I owed after insurance paid.

I didn’t know anything about MRSA at the time and was far more concerned about the major surgery, but I suspect I contracted it at the hospital and that was the reason for no bill.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about people defying standard and accepted medical advice. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone else then go ahead. If someone wants to forgo cancer treatment and instead work on deep breathing then go ahead. That can't hurt anyone else.

It's up to the person to answer to their family when they go against medical advice.

There is a chance the vaccine did not work for you.

Also, if you ever do have kids, there is a time frame where they will not be vaccinated either.

It is a society based problem which is why you simply cannot make decisions made on unsupportable evidence.

I'm pro-medicine and prevention, but at 38 years old and someone who has had more drugs pumped through his body in 54 weeks than this board will see in a lifetime, I'll take my chances that parents will do the "right" thing. I'm still not going to worry about their kids if they don't.

Once again, the problem is that unvaccinated kids are a danger for all other kids. If vaccines were 100% effective, and could be given to newborns then I'd agree with you.

Technically, any of us could also have a lack of immunity, even with getting the shots correctly.

It is in no way acceptable that diseases considered eradicated in this country are coming back. Not to mention that it brings up the very scary prospect of these diseases mutating to a vaccine resistant string.

I don't disagree, I simply do not care to put effort into worrying about vaccinating my kid when I don't have actually have one....and I cannot control who procreates, which is probably a good thing.
