I'll still listen to Shannon. Doesn't bug me but I don't listen to a ton of Cards games. Now I don't know what happened to Rooney since he left the Sox but I can't stand the little that I do hear him. My Cardinal fan buddies can't stand the guy. They accept Shannon for what he is.

Huh...I don't mind Rooney, but he's not the greatest...

Great nomination by BRick, and strong points by JORR. He'll be missed when he's gone.

Today's lecture in broadcasting - the importance of "announcers" not announcing.

Next week, representatives from Malaysian Airlines will examine the positives of "pilots" not piloting ... later this year, the local labor board will explain the many economic benefits of "workmen" not working.

Brought to you by Loyola's Quinlan School of Business series "Doing One's Job is Vitally Important (unless you can make a gerund out of its function)".

Me too. Just saying Shannon doesn't bug me.

But Damn....that Coomer sounds like a major goober. They just can't seem to get a decent one.

They've got a guy calling Iowa Cubs games, but they don't want to bring him up and start his service clock any sooner than they have to.

Mike Shannon is categorically awful. I don't know why they let him call any play-by-play when they have John Rooney there. The Cardinals are dumb.

Itd be nice to see a young outspoken guy.

A Max Kellerman type would be perfect.

The game is definitely going to miss personalities like Hawk. He is one of the things that I love about baseball. I wish more teams had guys like him to listen to.

I'd take Hawk any day over that despicable pile of hyena shit Len Kasper. God, what a fucking pompous gasbag. If that's the future of announcing I think I'll saw my own head off.

I only tend to use that gif when I'm kinda ashamed that I enjoyed the post even though I perhaps shouldn't have ... :D

What in the name of Rico Petrocelli makes you think Hawk can be interesting being anything but his unchecked self?

All I'm saying is that he doesn't have to be a complete dumbass most of the time (ex. sabermetrics argument) to be interesting. That just makes him annoying.

Except he's way off. Anybody can throw angry words together, but if they're incoherent then you have to subtract points.

Kasper is "pompous", especially compared to Hawk? Never.

It was more the despicable pile of hyena shit followed by sawing his own head off that elicited the chuckle.

What baseball announcer is a bigger pompous d-bag than Hawk? Keith Hernandez, maybe?
