I was a non-parent too. For 31 years. I know exactly what is it like to be a non-parent.

I'm fully prepared for my wife to scream, piss, and shit for 48 hours before birthing something that looks like a greasy alien. I don't need to be a parent to realize it. I dread it every time we even mention having kids.

Ya know, I'm sick of hearing this shit. No non-parents are under the impression that parenting is easy. But parents sure as hell like to remind us that it's not! And yes, I'm 100% sure that I could be a better parent right now than 90% of parents because 90% of people are fucking idiots and thus, bad parents. It takes patience and hard work to be a parent, but stop acting like it's fuckin rocket science. Snooki has kids. Enough said.

The first and most important lesson you can learn as a parent is humility. Good luck to you 10%ers.

Do you find yourself to be wiser because you had children or did you have children because you're wiser?

I just find the comments on whole to be arrogant and potentially offensive to those who choose to never have kids. They know a lot of things you don't too, such as what it's like to enjoy your 30s and 40s.

It would be like me saying "I understand" what it would be like to be medically unable to have children. No I do not understand. I could never understand.

Am I wiser? I dunno. Definitely wiser about what being a parent is all about. I'm a different person now. Not any wiser about what stocks to pick or how to achieve world peace.

But people don't go around saying "you don't know what it's like to achieve a 10% ROI in a down economy until you've done it." Only parents do that, and it's annoying and preachy.

when the topic at hand is people criticizing how someone handles the birth of a child, yes, parents are gonna say "you don't know what its like...."

Guilty. Mine aren't yappy,. They are yappy-headed, though.

At least they don't bring their cats to Cooper's Hawk and let them run wild.

Not really, I was with you on the rest of it until for some reason you felt you had to put that in there.

You haven't lived until you are disturbed from sitting on the couch watching a game and eating your favorite finger food to wipe an ass

Then I worded it wrong. I meant they know what it's like to travel more and live with less stress. I wasn't saying it's better. I was saying there are benefits to both. A lot of people with children (not all) will act like your life is a waste unless you have kids and that you have absolutely no idea what it's like to have kids if you haven't. It's false and, to me, arrogant and insulting.

I'm never going to have children and do not find those comments to be arrogant or offensive. My parents have kids, my siblings have kids, and most of my friends have kids. I have an idea of what it's like to have children but I will never really know; and to be honest, I don't want to know, which is why I will not have them.
