I think this is the flyer. It has no religious anything on it except the church. No services, nothing about worship, no mention of Easter.

If they are hosting an egg hunt, no I wouldn't care. I guess the setting makes it seem questionable but I can choose to go or not to go. Egg hunts (and I think including this one) aren't really focused on religion.

Fair enough. But to play Devil's advocate, I could argue that an egg hunt is not a fair comparison. What if a Mosque invited your kids to play in a game that is loosely related to a Muslim holiday?

Let's be honest: the egg hunt wouldn't exist if not for the Christian holiday Easter, regardless of whether it's on the flyer.

Again, I wouldn't care as a parent and a non-Christian, but it gets too blurry for me, so I think we should avoid it altogether.

That's awesome, great idea. anyone who thinks their kids need to be shielded from an understanding of other beliefs/religions/what have you is doing a disservice to their kids' education.

You tell me. Like I said you see news stories about stuff like that once in a while about schools teaching tolerance for Muslim faith. How about what they did on the University of Chicago? Took pews out of a Christian church and put prayer mats in so now the Muslims on campus could pray there. What do you think would be the response if they did that to a Mosque?

Eggs have been used as symbols of fertility and life for centuries before the Christians adopted it as a symbol of resurrection. Almost all countries, religion, or ethnicities have a "ritual" with an egg. Some break em, some paint them, some eat them. Yes they are associated with Easter but the pastor of this church has said this isn't a religious event. They have every right to open it to the community.

If somebody sends my kids home with a flyer for a game that is loosely related to a Muslim holiday saying it's not a religious event...I'm probably not going but I am not going to be offended by it either. Jehovah's Witnesses come to my door occasionally, I don't freak out.

I don't think there is separation between church and state is in the constitution and it's used wrong (imo) all the time. It does not mean you are to be religion free and cannot talk about it nor are you free from exposure to it. It says In God We Trust on our currency.

Well, I'm already a Catholic, so I would always tell them that and shut the door.

Now, I like to amuse myself. I tell them I'm a Muslim, I support Bin Laden and terrorism. I've done that the last 3 or 4 times. Should see the looks on their faces as I shut the door.
