It would be classic if the guy showed up pro se in the costume.

That letter alone cost MLB $1,000+. Simply filing the case with a companion restraining order should get them to $10K. Billy should just offer to be bought out. Then go and buy a different costume that wears a white with blue pinstripe jersey.

His name is listed in the link I posted.

I'm sure MLB already knows where to find him.

Yeah, and all he has to do is show up in court and say that wasn't me in the suit.

MLB is just woofing. It's a no-win situation for them. Frankly, I don't even think they can stop Billy from wearing Cubs gear that he bought. I believe when one purchases sanctioned MLB gear, he is purchasing the license to wear said gear.

Sure, they can fuck with this dope, but they run the risk of some annoyed judge smacking them down in court and the coverage of that would make them look ridiculous. Not to mention, it probably isn't great PR to have a corporate monolith tormenting some little guy in a hot suit who is out hustling for tips.

Julian Green did the exact right thing. Just issue the statement that he has nothing to do with the Cubs and never has. That's pretty much the best thing they can do. The other thing would be to use clout to have cops fuck with the guy for hassling customers and selling photos without a license. That would really be the way to fuck with Billy, but you'd probably need a relationship with the alderman to do that.

You trying to imply that someone on the Cubs is involved with Tom Tunney? :safe:

But he just admitted its him in the suit and they have the video of the head coming off and he is there?

Dont think that is the solid defense and i dont think this guy has any money to defend the suit. None intended.

Probably the easier route for the Cubs is to ask Rahm to make a call and get the gestapo IRS (he must have friends there) to look into the taxes paid on Billy's income in this.

Well, he could say he hasn't been in the suit in months and he doesn't know who is wearing it now. And even if he admits to wearing it, there certainly isn't any infringement in wearing a fucking Bear suit with a shirt and helmet that MLB profited from. It would be a ridiculous lawsuit. And I'm sure you're correct that he doesn't have the money to defend such a suit. He probably isn't too concerned about a judgment against him if he loses either. Good luck getting the judgment and good luck collecting if they do. They're better off ignoring him the way they ignore the other 40,000 morons wandering around the neighborhood on game days.

I absolutely see your point on that Jorr just let him go. But I wonder isn't there some aspect of trademarks and such that if you don't vigorously defend them you can lose them. I don't meant the MLB stuff but the mascot aspect or along those lines?

I'm not sure a guy wearing an animal costume along with a shirt and hat that you sold him could be seen as a violation of trademark. He's not really a business. He's just an idiot wandering around in a suit.

What's the difference between Billy the Cub and this guy, and how do you make a cease and desist case for one while ignoring the other?

i remember that me and my brother went to the baba booey book signing, and as we neared our turn to go up to gary and get my brother's signature/picture there was ronnie "woo woo" wickers attempting to cut in front of us using the whole "do you know who i am?" schtick to try and get up front. the funniest part was that one of the bookstore people said "yeah we know who you are.... now please go buy a book and get in line or leave"

i got to explan to gary who the guy was and then we got to talk about his mets for a minute. i think he liked my theory that ike davis went off to do black ops for the CIA when he had that foot-arch bruise that ended his season in may.

If you have the option, Washington's preferable to Jackson and its tunnel of urine.

Hasn't Washington/State been closed for years? I think you can still walk down the platform from Jackson, but I have my reservations about traversing an abandoned L station.

yeah and yeah. now it's jackson or bust.... i think there might be another station in the loop/ish area where you can change (i want to say roosevelt but i know it's not roosevelt) but jackson is pretty much the place. they renovated the hell out of it and they're much better about getting rid of the annoying "performers" / beggars nowadays. pretty much they have to have some sort of an instrument and a license to do their thing down there.

and comeon, if you haven't skulked down to an abandoned L station to smoke a crack rock at some point in your life then you haven't had a 100% authentic chicago life.

I think Jackson is the only Red-to-Blue transfer point. I've never had any trouble with street people, or noticed extraordinary urine smells. Sometimes I wish we had the Washington Metro, which looks like some sort of uber-sanitary sci-fi system, but I certainly don't wish we were Washington.

i once had to let a crackhead bitch on the red line smack the shit out of me because she was having a bad day and telling me to shut up and back down, and out of principle i wouldn't and she went off.

but that's prolly divine payback for the times i've been at the clark&lake supertransitcenter and bought a payday bar or two, taken bites of it to break up all of the peanuts, and then spit them out on the sidewalk so the flock of ghetto birds descends down to get them right when there's some annoying ass yuppies walking by. having a flock of ghetto birds ready to attack yuppies on your beck and call is no less than 3 types of awesome, so yeah, if getting the shit slapped out of me by a crackhead bitch is karma/payment for that i'll gladly accept.

Don't you consider the Washington (Blue) pedway walk to State/Lake (Red) a transfer point?

That's great. All I've done to people who annoy me downtown is subtly kick them.

One time by the water fountain at Union Station, an obviously schizophrenic woman yelled at me for texting because she said I was taking pictures of her with my phone and she was tired of everyone taking pictures of her. I felt really bad about it because she's probably had to deal with tons of stupid Caller Bobs from Batavia and Naperville documenting Big-City Life for the internet, which often means photographing the homeless and mentally ill as if they're part of the scenery and not human beings who might not necessarily consent to having their pictures taken. It was the ones gumming up a crosswalk during a walk signal so they could take a picture of a haggard black guy playing sax on the corner that I had to kick their ankles to prod them along. Still, I had to make sure I had a ride home and didn't feel like moving far, so I just sidestepped out of her line of sight.
